Default Not sure I believe this ....

"BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Iraqi insurgents are being trained in Iran to assemble weapons and Iranian-made weapons are still turning up in Iraq, the U.S. military said Wednesday. The statement comes two months after the United States said it had asked Tehran to stop the flow of weapons into Iraq." -CNN.com

>>>except that maybe the Shias would be using Iranian-made weapons against the Sunnis. 1) Why would Iraq, which was more militarily capable than Iran (and allowed to take their weapons and explosives home with them), need insurgency training in Iran? 2) Did this new revelation come out of Cheney's Underground Office of Strategic Disinformation?

I wouldn't believe it. Remember the last time they said there were Iranian weapons only to have a reporter read the boxes that clearly said in Arabic "from the UAE". That was the time Bush was storming up and down trying to convince the UN he had "proof". You probably didn't notice how quickly that whole story vanished off the radar.

Perhaps it's been long enough now they think they can try their spin engines again.

Finally, wtf does it matter who supplies them. If the UAE supplies them it's ok? If we supply them it's OK. But if Iran were to supply them then it's not ok? This is fucked up.

I think they're being trained by the Massachusetts National Guard. Let's invade Massachusetts...wait...let's not give anybody any bright ideas.

Sadly that's closer to the truth than many realize.

It makes sense; the Sunni were in charge pre invasion. For the most part, the higher echelon of the military were Sunni, the Republican Guard were Sunni. It stands to reason that when we invaded the Sunni took the majority of the munitions and hide them in Anbar. It would also make sense that the Shia majority in power now would look to their Shia brethren in Iran for military support.

I agree with graybeard. Also, it says they are being trained IN Iran and not BY Iran. What is so hard to believe? It's the same as they are using Iranian MADE weapons but not neccessarily Iranian ISSUED weapons.

People forget that the Arab nations don't think of national boundry's the same as we do. England and the other European countries who occupied those lands, divided them up purposely to separate tribes and loyalties that had existed for hundreds of years. They wanted to make them too weak to effectivily stop the exploitation of their resourses. Unfortunalty, it didn't work. And it won't work.
