All that it does, anyone setting time frames like that without real pre-conditions, anyone trying to put artificial deadlines upon this conflict is only aiding the enemies, so-called, of America, al Qaeda and Iran. It allows them some leverage to know when to put the pressure on, to know that the clock is ticking and to know where the pressure points are.

"So, in terms of the battle, day-to-day here, General Petraeus isn't looking more forward than five or six months. He's trying to make this surge work. But in terms of the broader strategic framework, it serves only America's enemies."

i think the deadline idea is not very smart... ending the war soon would be great, but setting a strict deadline.. it doesn't make sense... why would we do that to ourselves?

lets just do whatever it takes.. without worrying about timetables made up strictly to gain votes

How about we tie the troops sustainment/withdrawal to the benchmarks Bush promised.

Honestly this whole setting a deadline to pull out the troops by 2008 is ridiculous.. Its like starting a project and just moving on to another.. All this is lead by liberal outlooks on the war that "has no end"..If we pull out its going to be worse for them and for us..there is no solution to this but sticking it through..

I agree. VN solved it's problems when we left. We might not have liked their solution, but it was theirs. We have no right to force solutions on other people.
