I am so relieved to know there are people like you in America. You seem so much more knowledgable than our military leaders.
Is Bush aware of your knowledge and expertise on warfare?
You must have an extensive military background.
Offer Bush your services so we can end the war and make the world safe again.

Well, I spent 10 months in a war zone (Desert Storm), two and a half times more time than John Kerry spent in Vietnam so my opinion has to carry at least the same weight as his on military matters.

Hey Scoody, I remember a conversation with a general I had a few years back, and he was telling me that for every soldier in the field, there are three in support behind him. Is that accurate? If so, and we have 120k troops deployed, it would take another 360k to supply them. That's one third of our standing army. Then consider, as I'm sure you well know, our station assignments in Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, UK, and on and on...

Sorry, still seems a bit thin to me. But maybe you can fill in some gaps that I'm missing.

By the way, the General was, believe it or not, General Custer. I don't remember what his first name was. But he was descended from General G.A. Custer's brother. Just in interesting side note. Met him at Ft. Leavenworth's war college.

Yeah, but Scoody, much less than half of those 1 million plus are combat personnel. And there are limits set by military doctrine as to the ratio of combat deployment to non-combat duty in a given time period. Sustaining 15% of our forces (probably roughly 20-25% of our combat forces) in a combat environment for four years doesn't sound like all that much, but it is stretching our forces in a big way. And I get the sense that Lady can attest to that. Also, we could only muster an additional 20K troops to Iraq even with all the calls for more troops and the upsurge in violence and chaos.....that doesn't sound to me like we have all that much to spare.

Instead of invading maybe we can boycott the Olympics. That'll fix'em.

Instead of invading Iran perhaps we can put our soldiers on the border and stop Mexico from invading the States.

I kind of hope we don't invade Iran. Invading Iran would probably require a draft. Staying out of Iran means we'll just keep going with Bush's plan of helping Darwinian theories working in the modern world.

Now we're talking but wait...wouldn't that make...sense? I don't think it's republican vs. democrat anymore. They only differ in degree, not substance. It's us (citizens) vs. them (politicians).
