Japan fought its battles to the death. Read any of the farewell notes,(poems) by some of their more revered Generals who discuss with their children or others how this day will leave them bloody on a battle field or decapitated out of respect. You talk of war as though your own soldiers are ready to die and they are not. They would prefer to survive the days events, this puts you behind the enemy who have nirvana to reach however misguided their belief is. You want to know how to fight, win or understand a war get the view of a peasant who lives in the middle, they will no more than any tactician or expert. The Jews of Palestine, have put on their boots and loaded their weapons, what comes there way is their own doing but we are to blame for it. Following WWII, we allowed them the land that they call Isreal when it wasn't ours to give. Just like the French thinking that Vietnam was theirs, so for two wars we learnt nothing but how to create a war, Sun Tzu could learn from us the "Art Of War".

The principle of the objective
Quote:
"No ruler should put troops into the field merely to gratify his own spleen; no general should fight a battle simply out of pique. Anger may in time change to gladness; vexation may be succeeded by content. But a kingdom that has once been destroyed can never come again into being; nor can the dead ever be brought back to life."

A leader does not raise troops twice, niether does he gather food for them three times.

I don't know whether Sun Tzu said this as it was written by a fourteenth century adviser speking to his taisho with reference to Sun Tzu.

I have read The art of War, just as I have read Orientalism by the late Said but I am not knowledgable enough to quote them. Sorry that I can't help you there.

"Can't have much stealth when the previous administration guts the agency responsible for spying abroad like a fresh hog...."

>>>A better idea is to manufacture intelligence, invade, and blame the resulting screw-up on the previous administration.
