I don't know. If they were then it was the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Even if the Iranians did not hate the Kurds, which they do, the Kurds are Sunni, so I don't imagine Iran would be too friendly towards them.

Under Reagon,Rumsfeld was the special envoy to Bagdad and visited Saddam numerous times.We gave Saddam aid against Iran.

If you want to see some evil leader defeated, you cannot require an ally to totally agree with you in all areas. You then will have no allies and will lose. F.D.R. new that principle when he allied America with ( of all people) Josef Stalin to defeat Hitler. We needed Sadam to help defeat Iran. Too bad it didn't happen

We were not at war with Iran. As long as an evil leader agrees with us we support him?

We were in and still am in a "COLD WAR" with Iran. We supported Iraq in their war with Iran because it seemed in our best interest to oppose Iran.
