I don't know what they were thinking. And I agree with you....the Rumsfeld firing was a sudden and unplanned "Oh shit!" response to something very unexpected.

It’s not just the Liberals, It is Moderates, Independents and yes, even Republicans sans the far right, who believe a course correction is far over due.

SMITTY: MY STATEMENT APPLYES FOR ALL!

GREAY:This war has been politically driven from the onset. The Rumsfeld doctrine of using just enough troops to lose, is/was politically driven. The insistence that we were winning the war, right up to November 6th, was all about politics. And who are the Pawns of this political game? The brave Americans on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. The rising insurgency in Afghanistan is a direct result of our failures in Iraq. The lack of resources for the war in Afghanistan has created an environment for the return of the Taliban.

SMITTY:YOU CAN CHUNK THAT TRASH! IF LIBERALS WANTED IRAQ TO BE A SUCCESS THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE INVOLVED AND BACKED THE TROOPS! BUT THEY CAMPAIGN OFF OF THE FAILURES OF THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION SO THEY ALLOW IT TO PERSIST! THEY FIND CONTRAVERSY AND EXPLOIT IT FOR MORE VOTES! NOW THEY WANT TO PULL OUT AND WATCH IRAQ DESTROY ITSELF! OTHERE WANT TO ESTABLISH DIPLOMACY WITH OUR ENEMYS!

greay:And they are not just a rag tag bunch of insurgents; they are well-equipped, well-trained fighting forces that give our troops all they can handle.
Now before you dismiss me as just another Liberal venting, I stand with McCain and his feelings that our troop strength in Iraq should be increased.

SMITTY: I AGREE WITH MCAIN! AND I KNOW HOW SERIOUS THESE GUYS ARE!

greay:There is probably very little chance of this happening now, but there was ample opportunity for the 31/2 years prior to the election. I’m not going to play the blame game, with the exception of saying; it all falls in the lap of the Commander and Chief.
Thank you for your service to our country.
By the way, all caps signify that you are yelling at those you are responding to, and Ronald Reagan’s last name has 2As n it. REAGAN.

I DONT MEAN TO BE YELLING! I JUST LIKE TO STAND OUT! i will quit it though because i think it is giving a bad impression![/quote]

Look, speaking as a "Blatant Liberal" and not a "Storman Norman Liberal" It is not about the troops (you guys signed up to follow orders), per say, it is about how you are being used by THE ADMINISTRATION. I would rather you be running drills in Hawaii or eating Bratwusrt in Germany or protecting our borders here in America. I could think of too many countries who need regime change, we can't play that role. I CARE ABOUT AMERICA, CALL ME SELFISH!!!

Well, my checkered past would prevent me from carrying the Blatant Liberal Torch, so good luck to you.

You know what. I liked being in Iraq! I enjoyed giving candy/soccerballs to the kids, joking with the iraqi army guys, and yes; giving insergents a 25 cent ticket to paradice! Its the only place in the world where you can truly trust someone to watch your ass and it teaches you to take nothing for granted! We are making a difference in iraq and will continue to untill our nation STRIPS us away from what we know is right and just! Im afraid for the Iraqi people. If we pull out before the mission is accomplished it will truly be a waste of american lives. I am not a selfish person. I look at an Iraqi and all i see is another man who wants the same thing I do! To raise his family in peace in a free nation! America may want to hang these people out to dry but we dont! I just want to leave knowing all thoes troops that died in iraq died for something. I want all the vets with missing arms and legs to brag about how they lost their limbs freeing a nation! I dont want to hear we were doing fine untill they pulled us out! For the life of me I dont understand why the liberals do not want the same!

One of the worst examples of this is John Danforth from MO. He is a very good Republican and actually would make a fantastic president (I'd vote for him in a neartbeat!). He got kicked out of Washington because of his disagreements with the party far right. Danforth was very disenchanted and was not going to put up with that crap, he left so you could make a difference back in MO because DC had become such a septic tank of Neo Cons taking over the Rep party. He is only one and there are others...in the end Danforth was right and the voters told us this in the last election only a few weeks ago.
