Ahhhh... can you feel the liberty?
On his first day as defense secretary, Robert Gates warned Monday that failure in Iraq would be a "calamity" that would haunt the United States for years. Underscoring eroding security there, a Pentagon report said the number of insurgent and sectarian attacks had risen to the highest level in years.

i just wanted to tke a second to thank the US for bringing democracy and liberty to those poor iraqis. Without the US, the Iraqis would probably still be living under Saddam's oppresive rule, but now, thanks to us, they are living under our oppressive rule. (see rape, torture...) But that's alot better than they had it when Saddam was around!
remember what bush said a few years back about removing all troops from iraq within a very specific timeframe? I'm glad he lied/was horribly wrong because if we left then all the crazy terrorists over there probably would have killed us all by now. Am i right or am i right?
God bless america

Civil war or not, Iraq has an economy, and—mother of all surprises—it's doing remarkably well. Real estate is booming. Construction, retail and wholesale trade sectors are healthy, too, according to a report by Global Insight in London. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reports 34,000 registered companies in Iraq, up from 8,000 three years ago. Sales of secondhand cars, televisions and mobile phones have all risen sharply. Estimates vary, but one from Global Insight puts GDP growth at 17 percent last year and projects 13 percent for 2006. The World Bank has it lower: at 4 percent this year. But, given all the attention paid to deteriorating security, the startling fact is that Iraq is growing at all.

Probably because job numbers and economic numbers just don't draw the attention of people dying. In the last month CNN has reported everyday, and so has FOX, at least 10 people and as many as 100 Iraqis have died due to "sectarian" violence.
Check your local news. The really bad news, murder, death, rape, etc. will always trump the financial news.
Kinda shows we care more about life then money...I like that.
