George O and CNN
House Defense chair asks Pentagon to remove embedded CNN reporters
SAN DIEGO The chair of the House Armed Services Committee asked the Pentagon today to remove C-N-N reporters embedded with U-S combat units.
The network televised portions of a video on Wednesday showing insurgent snipers targeting U-S military personnel.
Executives said the tape came to the network unexpectedly through contact with an insurgent leader.
Representative Duncan Hunter wrote in his letter that, quote, "C-N-N has now served as the publicist for an enemy propaganda film featuring the killing of an American soldier."
San Diego-area Republicans Darrell Issa and Brian Bilbray also signed the letter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congratulations George O Well, you and CNN have both been recognized as traitors to our troops.
Did the broadcasters at least acknowledge that the substance of the article they would air was offensive, to say the least.
I'd be willing to bet that CNN showed portions of the same video that George Owell posted here the other day and that they didn't get it from someone "in contact with an insurgent leader" but through email from some liberal who told them he was "in contact with insurgents" or off the internet, just like George did.
Wasn't it the press coverage that helped turn the tide of opinion, in the Vietnam conflict. I do see the disturbing side of the article and it isn't that the House Defense has called for complete exclusion of the press but simply called for the restriction of any CNN access, among your troops.
Does CNN have a journal affiliate, that it could have used to inform of the video it recieved, therefore in no way aired what many would consider to be a "traitorists" act.
They may or may not; but the press here is generally protected from having to divulge information about their sources. Their argument is that if they divulge a source it puts their people on the ground in danger. That tells me one of two things. Either they’re more concerned about protecting their reporters and the coveted big scoops they get than they are our troops; or there are no legitimate sources and they’re protecting themselves from being labeled an affiliate of the enemy propaganda machine. Either way, I see them as aiding the enemy and I hope they’re booted out of Iraq. I'd actually like to see them prosecuted, but I doubt that will happen here. The media is TOO protected.
I imagine that if the US government mentioned the attachment of a Bill to the Freedoms of Speech Act, they would all come out in boils and sweat pimples. I think I would have liked to have been a witch during the time of the Inquisitions.
Right, but I think it's time some folks learned that there are responsibilities that go with all those freedoms they tout. And if they aren't going to be responsible then they need to be held accountable. The media has gotten to be like a bunch of drunk drivers who demand special privileges and protections while endangering everyone around them. It’s time America woke up to the fact that the media in this country is willfully participating in activities that are NOT in the best interest of this nation or its people. It’s one thing when they choose political sides in an election but it’s something else entirely when they promote enemy propaganda and endanger the lives of our troops and those of other countries.
It wasn't George who posted the video, it was Rastaman.
I wonder if any of the networks will air MIM's video footage? Although they would have to black out parts of the video since the actual footage seen would make most people sick if they had to see it unedited.
My personal opinion is that real footage (if it can ever be verified) should be viewed by the public, but I doubt it will ever happen because the media knows that people would really rally in support of the troops. The media isn't going to show anything here except that which can be used to promote the agenda of the "no war for any reason" crowd.
