Default Pessimism About the War

"Part of a broad effort to counter polls that show waning public support for the war and for President Bush personally, Cheney emphasized what the administration has said is underreported evidence of improvement in Iraq. He also took on those who have been questioning Bush's approach in the three-year-old war." -CNN

>>>Is Dick Cheney a reprise of Spiro T. Agnew? I know I'm feeling like a nattering nabob of negativism. But I have yet to figure out how to turn 2500 funerals into 2500 keggers, eh?

I think he's right, the media definitely underreports the good. It's easier to focus on bombings, but every day there's tons of little improvements that add up. The economy is booming in Iraq, they've had massive improvements in the schools, the number of attacks is down - why don't they ever do stories talking about the general trends? All you hear is "today 5 people died." You never hear the "but that's down 50% from last year."
