Default Define Victory In Iraq.

So far…the “action” in Iraq has not gone as planned… or envisioned would probably be better suited.
What constitutes a victory in Iraq? When the existing government is capable of governing the entire nation? As is, they dare not stray from the “Green Zone” for fear of certain death. The people may have elected them, but their constituency is being killed off in the thousands every month and no one can prevent it
I just heard a news blip tonight saying Baghdad is under curfew until Sunday because of a plot for a military coup.
What next?

I believe once the Iraqi governement is able to govern themselves then coalition forces can leave. However, our troops are getting repeatedly rotated, warn out physically and emotionally, and we need new coaltion forces to replace the rotating ones.

When will this take place? next year? 3 years from now? How about 5 years from now?

Why not just tell parents who sons and daughters are in the 5th grade now, to just enjoy your children as much as possible, b/c chances are some of these students will find themselves in the Iraqi Killing Fields.

For the Democrats it would be the complete and unconditional surrender of all American forces in Iraq and the resignation of Bush, Cheney and Rice.

Rastaman: as you already know, my husband served a year in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2005-2006. The judicial stepping stones have been laid, it's just a matter of pacifying the terrorists/insurgents in order for it to come full circle.

Rasta, why are you always so negetive in your posts when talking about the war? As a retiree you know what a soldier goes through to do his job. Lets try and support them.

I think that the Department of Defense is getting ready to call you to lend your expertise on how to fix this problem.

I know there will be a point in which we will be able to claim victory…however defined.
But, our enemies can already claim victory… They have been defined by this administration as “Dead Enders, the last vestiges of Sadaam’s regime, Foreign Terrorists, Insurgents, Death Squads and Secular Fighters.
For three and a half years they have hung around, challenged the last Super Power and to this day are still inflicting casualties. They aren’t getting weaker; they are getting stronger and more empowered the longer we let this war drag on. The Terrorists ability to continue their resistance means more for their recruitment, than our imposing might does to discourage it.
Yes we will win, but we will have to share our victory.
