Pentagon announces new deployments to Iraq - Army News, opinions, editorials, news from Iraq, photos, reports - Army Times

The Defense Department announced Monday the scheduled deployments of four Army brigade combat teams and two Marine regimental combat teams to Iraq.

This announcement affects about 33,000 personnel, and they are scheduled to deploy in early 2009.

Units called up for duty are:

• Regimental Combat Team 8, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

• RCT 6, Camp Lejeune

• 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas

• 2nd BCT, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood

• 3rd BCT, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

• 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania National Guard

These deployments are part of the regular rotation of forces into Iraq.
