I have found that the GOP usually goes along with my value system as opposed to the Democrats.

If these retired generals have this information, then why didn’t they take it through the proper channels and voice their grievances three years ago, two years ago, or even last year, so OUR representatives in Washington could deal with it appropriately and prevent a lot of what has happened since this war began? Being former high ranking military members they should be well aware of the proper channels for handling this sort of thing. Instead, nearly four years into this war they conveniently wait until weeks before our mid-term election and go to the press claiming they are going “expose” this administration.

Well, regardless of Democrat or Republican, I personally think this stinks of political hype and I RESENT their not coming forward with it properly behind closed doors to CONGRESS years ago. Even more so, I RESENTthat they are taking it to the press so that every lowlife terrorist group out there can use it to benefit their cause and view all Americans as a bunch of YAHOO reading idiots who hate their president more than they love this country and foam at the mouth over anything the supports their political agenda.

Kix, great post and I agree 110%.

But Rummsfeld, probably would not have listened to them. The Sec has for a long time only listened to yes men.

Are you dense or what?
These proported "lies" you speak of are the premises clinton stood by for the 8 years he served you.
Lies? No, these reports were irratic and the inspections went bad over and over while bubba represented this country.
The idea alone that sadam was a threat (which was a clinton premise as well as former presidents dating back to 1991) was a good reason to go in and dismantle his government.
Another good reason was dismantling the fradulent funding the fool for oil deal bubba and the UN seriously neglected.
These funds were traced and what was found in fact, was that funding went towards al qaida training camps stationed right there in iraq!
Did you know this fact?
I don't think so.
So hexum, expect to be ridiculed when you apply your anus to the keyboard and make assumptions based on propaganda.
When sanctions were broken, protocol was smeared and all evidence of a natural threat emerges, guess what?
You get taken out.
Being in iraq is strategic, it is right in the middle of everything, another reason why we have insurgents from every alphabet of islam wrecking havoc in iraq.
Its scary but not unreasoned and thought out.
This war is a long haul, and you were told so much, but you being the left apologist, you want a quick sweep under the rug, an appreciated practice by a rube of a past administration.
This sweep under the rug caused alot of opportunity to attack our homeland.
Those missiles bubba ordered gave permission to retaliate.
You don't bomb territories and walk away without repurcussions.
You can't order missiles to afgan, iraq and somalia and believe it is a "peace project"..

I firmly believe there were enough Democrats who already didn't like Rumsfeld that if these Generals had come forward in the beginning, they would made sure he listened. If the Dems couldn't force it or if the Generals had gone to them and they refused to listen, that would have been the time to go to the press. But NOT like this. There is absolutely NO way any General worth a nickel would pull such a thing because he/she should know that it would do nothing but cost more troop lives.

If I were the one making decisions at the Pentagon and someone pulled this I would make sure I found a way to pull their pension, or at least block it until they were wearing the permanent dirt blanket.

Kix,

You may or may not know, but General Shinseki, the Army Chief of Staff, went before the Senate Arms Services on February 25, 2003 and told them that we would need "several hundred thousand" soldiers to do "post-hostilities control over a piece of geography that's fairly significant, with the kinds of ethnic tensions that could lead to other problems."

Both Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz claim that Shinseki was "wildly off the mark". Now, if they are not going to listen to the top guy in the US Army (testifying to the Senate), who do you think they are going to listen to?

Most politicans from beging of time have lied. They promise one thing and do another. Thats the way it always has been. I personally would like one person who was running for president to say. I don't promise anything but, I will do the best I can for my country. There are a few presidents who loved this county and did do good for it. FDR, JFK, LINCLION, WOODROW WILSON, THOMAS JEFFERSON, GEORGE WASHINGTON, RONALD REGAN. In the last few years I'm really wondering about.
