All politicians are underhanded. Reagen was no exemption but he did have a very functional and competent staff. The CIA was functioning properly at the time and the pressure on the soviets was great.

You don't think any of their problems were the crumbling of a corrupt system, from within? I know Reagan put pressure on them, but wasn't the timing right? Tell me yes, because I don't want Reagan getting all the credit.

Well sorry but nobdy knows what internaly happned to create the rift. The Polish stirke wasnt as monumetal as some what to think. Its not like there hwole shiping fleet was built by the poles. Americans system is evry bit as corrupt and its not crumbling any time soon.

The reality it is somehwere inbetween. it all had a an effect but theres is alot not known. What went on behind closed Politburo doors is the real crux of it. That the west will never know.
