"only" 58,000?

There was no way the US could have "won" Vietnam. Only a tiny fraction of the population "wanted" us there....kind of like our situation in Iraq.

A fucking debacle. A quagmire. An immoral waste of life and resources.
And all because we've allowed ourselves to be locked into fossil fuels....

Fucking pathetic.

Can anyone here tell me how it is said that John McCain supports the troops? When in fact yesterday, he plays hookey from his job in the Senate & misses the vote at a time that a Veterans Bill to give the troops the same benefits as WWII vets had is brought up for vote. It seems McCain flew off to California for a fund-raising lunch & missed this Veterans Bill vote; instead of being at his desk on the Senate floor & supporting the troops with his vote to give them their deserved benefits.

In fact, McCain thinks this bill gives the vets too much, and it is too costly: for the record both Obama & Clinton spoke in favor of the bill & also voted for the bill. Now who supports the troops? The "don't bother to vote & don't reward the service of the troops Grandpa Warmonger McCain": or the alleged peacenicks Obama & Clinton who were at their assigned duty post & voted to support the troops.

Today's sad & demented & dishonest pandring John McCain is not even a shell of the previous man we called a war hero: apparantly GWB & Fairy-Boy-Rove along with too many years in Washington have done him in: yes, at one time he was apparantly a good man, but no longer, now he is a typical lier & dishonest politician who has been in Washington far too long. Return him to Arizona where he belongs. ...pjwky

it's generally accepted that the cold war is over.

Doesn't appear that much was "won" despite the billions spent.

The Russians aren't proving to be our best buddies, despite Bush's long loving gaze into Putin's eyes........

(that was some fucking hilarious shit when he first met Putin)

Yes....only 58,000! Your reading comprehension skills are lacking I see, so I'll repeat.....
In Saddams way of thinking, this number is small potatoes as far as sacrificing goes, in order to win a war. He would(as I've said) seen this as a weakness in America.
Of course there was no way of winning....again I'll repeat, I'll restate......in Vietnam, the war was lost at home, not on the battlefield and the same holds true in Iraq, as the left is trying to defeat us once again!

You GO, Stryker! That is GREAT that these veterans are looking to serve their country even more! Here's to every single one of them being elected.

Most importantly, thank YOU for your service. Never doubt that there are millions of us who strongly believe in what you've done and what those currently serving are doing. Our nation owes you a debt that can never be repaid. However, letting you WIN over there would be one hell of a start.

Don't let the America/Bush-haters get you down. They only speak for themselves.

God bless you & all your fellow soldiers.

I thought that was weird also.

The USSR was crushed and I will not say by Reagan.
The defeat of the USSR started in Korea, then Vietnam, etc......

Refusal to give a Republican credit for anything, even if it's due--Liberal characteristic #7.
