I don't know what else to say...I've provided a quote from the former President who was involved in the matter...I've provided the links and wording to the resolutions...I've provided the links and wording to the UN Charter...I have countered every post that tries to counter my argument and shown where improper conclusions were drawn.
Everything I have provided makes my case and no one has provided anything to prove me wrong...whether you admit to it or not seems of little importance...at least we managed a civil exchange so that was worth something.
I don't see much reason to continue...I've provided plenty for those that are truely interested and those such as the very obtuse Tileman I hold out no hope for making any progress with so at this point I shall leave it with, have a good evening.

As does everything I've posted and opined uopn. I've provided the UN Res. that supersedes yours...as for nothing to prove you wrong, that is the "Nuh-Uh" I knew would come. We will have to agree to disagree.

The resolution you provided as I pointed out and Bush Sr/Scowcroft also alluded to provided for military action to remove Saddam's forces from Kuwait...it didn't provide for going into Iraq and removing Saddam from power.
You can call that a "Nuh-Uh" response if you wish but it is a "Nuh-Uh" that has been substantiated with quotes and links...'nuff said.

That is probably the best option in this thread. The continuation of this particular argument is best done on a much older thread found deep in the archives that debated the war being legal/illegal and not this thread which is more about a soldier that has defied a contract he willingly entered in hopes of finding a loophole to exploit....
Now, let's this this topic back on track------------
I claim he's a chicken shit that only joined the military in hopes it was *just another social program* that he can recieve a gravy train of freebies and pony up little to nothing in return.

Yes, it was a bit of a shame to get this thread all sidetracked over your bogus claim but it was kind of fun to rehash an old discussion.
Getting back to the original discussion...considering he appears to have signed up after 9/11 and has served in Afghanistan I think you continue to be wrong.

Except that he served in a few different places before he objected to this war. I don't agree that he's chicken, but I do think that the military is often marketed as a social program of sorts.
No matter what he believes, or his sincerity, he is defying his contract, and he should pay the consequencees.

This has NO bearing what so ever on his Status has a Soldier currently. None. You are in for the duration of your contract, and you have no say at all. You have no experience at all in this..and "feelings" don't count...life sucks and then you move on.

Nor did I suggest any such thing...I was responding to Tileboy's comment, "I claim he's a chicken shit that only joined the military in hopes it was *just another social program* that he can recieve a gravy train of freebies and pony up little to nothing in return."

I sit corrected.
