Gix, we will leave in time (sooner or later) and it will go back to being a Shiite dominated region if a strongman does not come in. This shifting back and forth is merely temporary until we leave. So we keep killing our own over there and playing pie in the sky games with thinking this will be Western style democracy.

We get along with the Saudis (as much as possible, measured as per the flow of oil)). Are they a Western democracy? If you can answer this honestly and in an informed way you will realize in the best of circumstances there are no real democracies that are Muslim-sectarian centric.

Dude, we can stay there and keep doing what we are doing and just get more killed with trillions of $s spent taking us into further debt and have a stalemate...that is success to you? We put more troops in and prolonged the stalemate. What is 'winning'? Please clearly define that and when 'we win.' Our economy is tanking, the dollar has been devalued to a record low, and we are in recession; is that not what Bin Laden and the WTC bombing was all about? I think the basic terrorist tactic on America is winning right now, go back to the Bin Laden tapes and see what the basic plan was to take us down...'they' are winning, we are still bleeding from 9/11 and the foot is now infected and needs to be chopped off.
