Is war worth it?
Is any war worth it? The death of untold thousands during WW2 was publicized in movie news reels of that time. The difference was in the presentation to the public and the mindset of the people. Pictures of flag drapped coffins arriving at Dover Air Base is meant to do one thing. Impact the viewer for news ratings. Whether or not the viewer is outraged or grievious depends on thier own political leanings. The truer test would be to ask those that fight about the worth of the loss. Of course those that are deceased from the war have no voice except those that are left behind to deal with thier deaths. Those that are still "in-country" can of course voice an opinion; however, since the military is, and has been for decades, completely voluntary then they have chosen a path for the fate that finds them. Some still believe in thier cause while others do not. As most military members can tell you opting out of the military is not as hard as it once was so they could concievably come home if they truly feel that the war is unjust. While I refuse any and all labels that others may use to catagorize me, such as left or right or moderate, I know that sometime was is enevitable. No great nation, from the beginning of written history, to the present has ever existed without it. And war will not end until mankind ceases. As long as two individuals survive on this planet the conflict continues due to the human stain on our natures. Being a great believer in our constitution and it's articles I personally think that we have surpassed the founding fathers ideals of confederation. At the risk of being called an isolationist I also feel we should take care of our own problems first and extend charity to those that show compassion for each other in thier own countries. That being said I don't expect to be giving up my H&K 91 rifle anytime soon with the expectation that the government will always protect me. With war comes death, pestilence and famine. But for those that will not defend freedom, especially thier own, one of those conditions will come sooner than later.

There hasn't been a war that defended America since 1812. Nobody will be guilt-ed into supporting this war with stuff like this.

This is one war that definately should not have been started, it is like vietnam, no good reason and no end in sight. Just more of our brave military being killed for these NGFT that hate our guts and would cut our heads off in a New York minute. We need to bring our guys and girls home and protect our own borders.

What we are doing in Iraq is right and justified.

Sorry, but it ain't justified. Unless, of course, it would have been justified to invade Costa Rica after Pearl Harbor.
And, please, Iraqi FREEDOM??? It doesn't matter whether the country lives under democracy or totalitarianism, they still gotta deal with the mullahs. That ain't freedom.

Yeah, Lexi and the rest of you are right: bring our troops home and wait on the next terrorist attack. I mean, after all, it's not like the terrorists can get in our country or anything. They won't come here, right? After we evil Americans stop agitating them in Iraq, everything will be hunky-dory and they'll stop their jihad against America. Hell, maybe one day they'll even be our friends.
Then Santa Claus will come down from the North Pole, the tooth fairy will fly in, and the Easter bunny will hop on over for a worldwide celebration of peace.
