It does feel good we took Saddam out of power, that we helped stabalize and rebuild their judicial system, and trained their soldiers. It doesn't feel good that lives were lost on both sides, US has anteed up the cash for it, and many people profitted from it.

"MASSIVE DEBT FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS?" This from a guy sitting in prison? You surpass moronic, and are quickly approaching simpleton.

Carson, when one uses insults it proves only that one doesn't know what one is talking about and has no faith in one's argument.
Don't worry, I have no faith in your argument either.

"Anti-War types" !
Is there really anyone on this site that is not "anti-war"? I would hope not!
Of course we all know what is really meant by the use of these words as "inflamatory accusations" on the AWE site. It is kind of interesting that in some vague ways the contributors here are composed of various groups: including but not limited to GOP folks, GWB & administration advocates, far right & religious conservatives, democrats & their supporters, far left liberals, and some vets & those with prior military experience.
No one with any sense can be against fighting to save and protect this country! The monument at the top of the hill where the Korean "Conflict" memorial stands says, "FREEDOM IS NOT FREE"! Profound words and very true.
These words also caution that war is a terrible & costly enterprise. And perhaps they suggest that this "cost" be expended when freedom is at stake: the question is should such "cost" be expended for any reason when our "freedom" is not clearly & beyond-any-reasonable-doubt at stake?? That is a valid and also ligitimate patriotic question.
No question we are in a deadly fight with the islamic terrorists and their supporters. The valid question remains, how can we successfully prevail in this fight & conflict. The root cause is endemic through out the muslim nations. Osama and thugs have more support & more recruits now then before we invaded Iraq. How has Iraq really made anything safer?
Was Vietnam becoming safer as we "surged & bombed big time"? NO! In truth, it became less threatening some years after we pulled out. Could that have been because with us not there anymore, their own government could no longer use us as scape goats to avoid dealing with their own problems? And then perhaps that government felt the need to work more effectively with the world at large; and things like feeding its people became more necessary to the survival of the government of Vietnam. Vietnam was not a clear-and-present-danger to our freedom or our country: neither was Iraq!
As for now, there are no good options for dealing with the present Iraq we have created: I guess there are bad, worse and worst options, for what we now do with Iraq. But as the Marines say, "that is above my pay grade."
For the record, yes I did fight when so ordered in Vietnam; and by no means am I anti-military! However, yes I am opposed to continuing this present war in Iraq: yes I believe it was started for the wrong reasons, and with terrible political planning & political execution, and even worse political short-sightedness. It was again the wrong war, at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons, and this one was begun by a greedy arrogant shortsighted deceitful un-American administration. You know, Napolean did some things right too, but he sure turned out to be short-sighted! Not to mention that an Emperor did not fit very well within the revolutionary construct of the Republic! (Interesting thought!) ...pjwky

I am always glad to see your post NavVet; yes, Rummy-field & Dickie & the entire GWB gang did it their way! Elite pussies that are as American as Sadam was, and ever bit as stupid as he was. Covered in their oil wealth like Sadam, and filled with greed like Sadam. They ignored, over-rode, high-jacked and spit on a proud and mighty military that has always been a great National Treasure! And that IS TREASON!! ...pjwky
