I think there is no way that people with this disorder should be in the military let alone deployed over seas to a war zone. I don't know personaly either way with this guy. But keep one thing in mind, after boot camp and after my 30 days of recruiters duty I got stationed at san onofre (back then you had to try out for special forces you could not just sign up)this is when it was called ITS and then changed over to SOI. All we did was work details waiting till our tryouts etc.. Anyway we were not shit then and the only place they had to put us all(there where about 17 of us) was in an unused part of the barics first floor under the psych ward(marines that after boot camp that where trying to get out on psych discharch) A couple of these people we got to know pretty good, one because he would escape just about every night and go outside and smoke he told us once where he got the smokes but I don't remember he had no qualms in telling us he was having a hard time faking and convincing them to discharge him and he escaped at night to smoke so he could get a break from the real loons. But he was determined to get a discharge. One morning he finaly took two sheets tied them together then to the concrete railing then around his neck and jumped. Strong bastard because all that happened is he swung out came back hit his head on the wall (wich left a nice round circle of blood)and the knott came undone and he just landed in the sand with one hell of a crack on the grape. We met him later down the line guess after that he gave up because when we saw him again about a year later he was a Corprol in a grunt unit. Then there was our resident pain in the ass this guy would break out just about every night at different times and between 1am to even 4am this laim ass would come streaking through our barracks in only his boxers a wool blanket he made into a cape and a mask, toothpaste in his hair to make it stand up in a mowhawk and he would scream as he ran SUPPER CHICKENNN! This asswhipe woke us more nights than I care to remember. One night one guy stayed up and tried to catch him when he did he evaded captureee lol by diving out one of the windows that lined the wall they started at oh about little lower than waist high. Guy broke through the glass hit the ground rolled and kept going like he didn't miss a step. Needless to say we were impressed but had enough so we formulated a joint effort to knab his ass. It was a while before he came back after that night guess he did hurt himself but about six to seven days later at about 3am he came through and we were ready we covered the doors and windows, he stood there still at first like he was innn shock lol lol but then took off tward the other door at the other end ya screaming SUPER CHICKEN. Anyway we caught him slammed him to the ground many wanted to beat him within an inch of his life hell some with broom and mop handles. Some argued that would get us office hours or maybe even court martialed. Then one person said something very interesting a buddy of mine said(who is he going to tell he is wacked out of his head and everyone said good point we can tear him up) Well lets just say at that point super chicken broke his silence and man his sanity came to him like a miracle from god himself. He was begging I'm not realy touched in the head man don't beat me serioulsly it's an act don't hurt me lllllllllloooooolll we were laughing so hard we forgot all about being pissed. Now that one there I don't know what ever happened to him never saw him after that night. The point is that as this guy might be bi-polar he might not and bet your ass that many trying to get out of deployment are not. See if you look up Bi-polar it is not an exact science and they do not truely know what causes it and the only way to determine if someone has it is by how they act kind of like chronic lower back pain. So as we or reporters do not have privy to his private medical records and the fact he made it through boot camp where if he displayed these symptoms they would have noticed, the point being don't rule out the fact he could be faking it. Now on the commanders side he seen pretty much all there is and probably is looking at it this way and in my experience it is not that he might be faking it that pisses them off the most it is that there are those who do that make it harder for those who realy are sick and have the problem. If this guy is as bad off as I read he will not see or be with his wife for a long time and he might never hold down a job. Burning his fingertips real cases with such extreme behavior, well many times medication don't work there are many that although a medication does work it don't work for ever and have to change every couple or so years do in large because it is educated guess work and not an exact science right now. They don't realy know what causes it and use drugs that seem to help at least for a period of time.

Rob they have about 3 classes they fall into as to the severity of there behavior. People like betoven they say had it , mark twain , charlie pride , I don't know about charlie pride but you bet your dollar the other two did not have medication. Bi-polar person is no different than you are me we feel happy when say we get a present or angry when we have someone cut us off or sad if we loose a girlfriend. We on the other hand have control but a person with bi-polar disorder could be laughing say if there mom died right in front of them they know they are suppose to be sad but they can't help laughing. Hope that makes a little more sense. Severe cases of bi-polar people commit suicide they go to the edge of the bridge even though they know it is dangerous and should not or jump off a 50 story building with an umbrella when they know it wont work.

What is this for I know it pretty good I was in the medical field for a while had my share of 5150's . bi-polar etc. went to school for all that. This guy told us he was faking sat and shot the shit that night with him for a while all of us did I mean hell we were wide awake so why not.

Thers rapist in the military from time to time. One more reason that anybody deifying military personell are out of there mind. They can and sometimes are total pieces of shit. Somebnody bi polar in the past would be out of the miltiary immeidiatly upon discovery. They are really hard up is the thing.
