In a poll that Smitty posted a week ago, it showed that more Iraqis thought they were better off under Saddam than now (in 2007). Now, that may have changed recently as the violence has declined somewhat.

There are two ways to look at this question, strictly from an American point of view or a wordly (including the Iraqis) point of view. To me, the verdict is probably still out....although strictly from an American point of view, I don't see how the improvement can come close to warrant the cost....both in dollars and life and limb.

The administration's knee jerk supporters (Smitty, gix, the usual cast of clowns) don't care about the Iraqi point of view...

Great post SN, I agree - the costs are way beyond any perceived benefit

I dont?
How many Iraqis have you met?
How many Iraqi troops have you faught with?
How many iraqi children have you given first aid to?
How many houses have you walked in on where a terrorist has decapitated a mans family?
How many times have you seen an Iraqi man weep because his American friends are going home?
How many thimes have you been welcomed in an Iraqis house for chai?
How many games of soccar have you played with the Iraqis?
How many toys and school supplys have you given to the Iraqi children?
How many free iraqi elections have you stood security for?
How many friends have you lost trying to protect children at an Iraqi school during a firefight?
How many deployments have you voulinteered for?
How many people have shot at you because of your religion and nationality?
How many Iraqis have shook your hand?
How many Iraqi have thanked you for what your doing for their country?
How many people have you seen risk their life to voulinteer information of their enemies?
How many jobs did you help give to the Iraqis?

Myself along with the majority of an overwhelmingly conservative military has seen and done all these things. Who the fuck are you to tell me that I dont care about the Iraqi people? If you really cared about the Iraqi people you would help give them the democracy that they want! You would help them defeat the insurgents that are murdering their families and using their schools, hospitals, and mosques as a defence from american forces.

Apparently, from the poll that you posted (reposted on this thread) the Iraqi's don't agree that our invasion has made things better....some say yes, but it is far from universal.....

You want to foist your version (Bush's)of democracy on them and they ain't buying it...
