Default Iraq sinks into lawlessness

This can't be right, I thought it had become a paradise. Those pubs wouldn't lie now, would they?

Iraq Slipping To 'New Depths Of Lawlessness'

New York Times | DAMIEN CAVE | December 1, 2007 04:35 PM

Jobless men pay $500 bribes to join the police. Families build houses illegally on government land, carwashes steal water from public pipes and nearly everything the government buys or sells can now be found on the black market.

Painkillers for cancer (from the Ministry of Health) cost $80 for a few capsules; electricity meters (from the Ministry of Electricity) go for $200 each and even third-grade textbooks (stolen from the Ministry of Education) must be bought at bookstores for three times what schools once charged.

Well I am suprised--another anti-Victory--anti American thread by Upton--and of course taken from the anti-war New York Slimes. Well despite your doom and gloom--Iraq wasnt exactly a role-model economy or country of justice before we liberated it. Im suprised more libs hadnt moved to the paradise of Iraq before the war--before evil America had to ruin everything.

The pansies won't even move to Venezuela, and they LOVE Chavez. Maybe they're waiting until he appoints himself dictator for life.

The party of chicken hawks, also known as Republicans, might want to send the military there. I mean, Venezuela has oil.

So does Mexico, and its closer, plus most of the Mexicans are moving North, anyway.

What a riot---you now downgrade things like the Bush administration so to make it all look better. Don't raise the bar...lower the standard, LOL.

First let me thank you for your service--so few know the efforts and sacrifices that you and the rest of the military and your families have to endure.

And then let me congratulate your efforts to bring some good news and truth to the anti-war fanatics here at AWE.

Regardless of wether anyone agrees with the justifications for this war--one thing is for certain--were not going to leave Iraq until it can stand on its own. And the closer Iraq gets to that point--the sooner you and the rest of the military can come home--and thats what everybody wants. I hope things continue to improve and you guys get to come safely home--the sooner the better.
