I have a theory ...
"Four years after the fall of Saddam Hussein, the story of Iraqi petroleum remains one of great promises unfulfilled. Iraqi oil did not pay for the first round of postwar national reconstruction, as Bush administration officials had predicted. Nor has the industry come close to matching its decades-old pumping record of 3.7 billion barrels a day – a level at which Iraq might become a vital source of oil for thirsty world markets." -Christian Science Monitor
>>>A lot of people believe Bush/Cheney invaded Iraq in order to control the oil fields and secure America's energy future. I agree, but I think the idea was to keep Iraqi oil OFF the market. Bush was a failed oil man, basically because Texas oil can't compete with ME oil in terms of cost to bring the oil to the refinery. The oil men detested Saddam because they felt he dumped oil on the market and he drove people like Bush to failure. Texas oil is shit, mostly sand, and hugely expensive to pull out of the ground. With oil at $100/bbl, US oilmen can return to their fortunes. As we've seen since Katrina.
