Its to bad that the ones that were paid to know...IE the congress, did not do enough research to find the credibility of the facts....or could it have been the fact that slick willy gutted our intelligence capability...and we were only guessing, to begin with....as our intelligence agencies lacked the legal right to openly communicate with one another..thanks again to slick, or could it be that mr. slick released the master terrorist and allowed him to plot and plan the events that happened on 9/11.....regardless....."WE" the people are not authorized to declare war...I believe that power rests within the ranks of the congress, and was therefore thus "responsible" for the actions thereof...in fact the number of high profile democrats who "authorized" the action of war is quite extensive...and apparently they never stopped to consider the possibility to "fact check" before voting to send our troops into harms way...one can't blame them however....ever poll pointed in an overwhelming fashion that they must vote to authorize the war. So one can not blame a "snake" for being a "snake"...as its in their nature to suck up to the public and their base by voting ever which way the wind blows....of course if it is "polled" first. Quite amusing the way the "facts" of history gets distorted, when someone wants to point a political finer....is it not? That like telling someone the word "gullible does not exist....if you do not believe me just go to the dictionary to look it up.......yea right....its all the "mean" old conservatives fault...is.that way the 11% approval rating in favor of job performance? Here's to all the "gullible" people out there...I hope you can learn to "spin" better than this before....Nov. 08 BD

The fact that deabte over weapons only stopped here what a month ago....is so absurd its mindboggling. Nobody should ahve ever thought there was anything there in there first place.

Nothing is ever 100% where it comes to intelligence matters, Jack. It may have been the "best guess" that he didn't have WMDs, but only the Iraqis themselves were in a position to know or not know.

To be fair, though, regardless of what the US Government's internal assessments were, by the terms of the 1991 Gulf War Cessation of Hostilities Agreement, as encapsulated in UN Security Council Resolution 687, the obligation was on the Iraqis to provide "an accurate, full, final, and complete disclosure" of all aspects of it's weapons programmes - so the burden of proof was on Iraq to prove that they didn't have WMDs and not on the US to prove that they did.

Oh it is. There was never any qyuestion and never should have been. There is no logic in thinking there could be weapons and no need for the American CIA ot even be invovled in this.

The Iraqis need not ever suply one ounce of info and yet the truith was still clear. Thiis whole thing was assisted by intense and unescceary deabte for years.

It should have simply been laughed at and ever taking seriously but the Us Citzenry. Media people diiscussing the matter should have been ridiculed, FIx ignored, C-span complain about for covering it. And Congressmen recalled for ever buying into it.

How the hell could anybody ever even think..."Maybe Bush is right"

That is true...

However, there were so many countries that weren't alarmed (including Israel) that the administration's arguments seemed contrived.

The whole thing smelled rotten before we went in.....and history has proven that the case.
