You may be right, but I'd rather look at the trends. Is crime rising/declining under Democratic Mayors as opposed to Republican Mayors?

You are not this dumb--there is a lot more to crime then mayors. Red states who elected Bush and elect red congressmen have te highest crimes. I really do not know the politics of all those cities mayors but in fact red states and cities lead in violent crimes.

Your right, there is more to crime rate than whether a Mayor is a Democrat or Republican...... But I did have you going....didn't I?.....

I am at a loss for words on this issue... Why is the crime rate so high now?

When has Philadelphia ever had what was considered a low, or even average, crime rate?

Good question, and I did a little research... Philly has had an increase of murders for the last 8 years... It went from 100 muders to 360+ in a matter of 8 years... Apparently it is linked somewhat to poverty... The gang killings has always being a part of most major cities in the US, howeverm the murder rate in Philly is alarming because of thier population...
