Petraeus or General Betray Us?
For those of us who were alive during the Vietnam war, the situation is eerily similar. The government, in the persona of that brain dead alcaholic George W. Bush, has elected to send their toadies and sycophants over to Iraq to run the war rather than sending tough officers with a backbone and brains of their own to end this fight. People like Petraeus will say anything do anything to keep their position and support the political hacks that arrainged for their promotion into positions of power.
Vietnam cost this nation over fifty thousand of our finest young men and women, and in the end we gained nothing. The war was lost to a ragtag group of communists. Our nations reputation and honour were dragged in the mud for the world to spit on, and we didn't learn a thing, or at least our so called leaders did not. They are repeating the same mistakes in Iraq.
When you fight a war, popular or unpopular, you go in do the job and get out. We cannot and should not try to run the world to suit us, or dictate the form of government of other peoples. When we are physically threatened we should eliminate that threat then return to our homes and concentrate on defense there.

End the fight? You mean of course WIN the fight, right? because anything other then that would demonstrate a complete LACK of backbone.

Numbnut. You still don't get it. It's plain and simple in the first post. Good day, you're back on block.

Only after we have ben physically threatened? And yes we are fighting an unpopular war but what is right is never popular. Especially in politics!
