Default New Poll Shows Americans Trust Petraeus ... (Despite MoveOn.org and the NY Slimes ass

New Poll Shows Americans Trust Petraeus - HUMAN EVENTS

Despite MoveOn.org’s attempt in the New York Times to smear General Petraeus’s credibility with their “General Betray Us” ad, a new Gallup poll shows that most Americans are in agreement with Petraeus’s evaluation that “Iraq’s problems require a long term effort” and trust his judgment.

The poll, released yesterday, states that “Most Americans say that Gen. David Petraeus' plan, which President George W. Bush has adopted, is either about right or is too aggressive in terms of withdrawing enough troops and bringing them home soon enough. Only one-third or so agree with the administration's critics who want a more rapid pullout of more forces…"

....."In describing the recommendations I have made, I should note again that, like Ambassador Crocker, I believe Iraq's problems will require a long-term effort. There are no easy answers or quick solutions. And though we both believe this effort can succeed, it will take time. Our assessments underscore, in fact, the importance of recognizing that a premature drawdown of our forces would likely have devastating consequences."..... Gen. David Petraeus; testimony before Congress, Sept. 10, 2007.

I personally believe that it’s probably the most accurate report of what’s going on over there. I can’t see how anyone can accuse this guy of anything when he was approved unanimously by both sides to be “the guy” to go there and get give a progress report. I don’t think he came across as saying that everything is rosy and he made it clear that we’re not even close to getting out of this thing. Unfortunately it didn’t correspond to the surrender now crowd so they have no choice but to attack it.

Americans are not stupid. They see what is going on. They really don't care about the Petraeus report. They DO however care that ONE MAN, George Soros, attacked him, and NONE of the Democratic leaders condemed it.
Liberals are absoultely clueless what AMERICANS think. They look around N.Y., San Fransisco, and Washington and think this is reality. They don't have a clue that this is NOT the way to sway people.
Example: Why did GWB win in 2004? GEORGE SOROS! There was a district, near Cleveland, that had NEVER gone Republican. Soros started a letter writing campaign with a City in England. They sent EVERY household in that area a letter telling them to vote Dem. They did the opposite. After the election the news interviewed dozens of the residents. They, to a man, stated that though they were not in favor of GWB, they felt stronger that Soros, and his friends in England wanted to influence their votes. The rest is history!

What does it matter if they still want the thing to end now?

America's distaste for the war.

He doesn't compare with Republican loving Rupert Murdoch and his influence.
