What are your solutions? We are solving nothing just putting our children in debt for billions and billions andf then increasing terrorism along with it. I think you are wrong about liberals , we are all patriots just people have different views on how to solve the problems.

Liberals have different solutions then conservatives. That is american Do you want a one party system??? The dialogue although sometimes ugly brings out different sides and answers. When making a life decision do you consider all sides and its consequences? Of course!! Bill Clinton welcomed hearing all sides of an issue both right and left in order to make the best decisions. Right now we have a president who is so closed he had decided Katrina was a local issue and doid not believe it was a major catastophre. His aides had to show him videos 4 days post fact to get him to even consider it. A major American city is wiped out and our president did not want to listen. Just one of thousands of reasons this man is scary!!! In fact lets start a thread of what about him is the scariest!!!

What side of this issue did Clinton consider ?

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky."

President Bill Clinton made the statement during a news conference in January 1998, after weeks of scandal in which he'd been linked sexually to a White House intern named Monica Lewinsky. Clinton would later apologize to the American people and admit to a relationship with Lewinsky. As a result of the scandal, Clinton became the second president in U.S. history to be impeached by the House of Representatives. The Senate found him not guilty, so Clinton was able to finish his second term. "That statement exposed the fatal flaw in Bill Clinton's presidency. He was not a straight talker. He seemed devious and wily," said CNN's senior political analyst, Bill Schneider.

Hey, there is a thread like that in Politics in the News if you want to post about "What Scares You About Bush". Some good stuff in there, but not nearly enough yet ... we've only scratched the surface of what's scary about him, so feel free to add whatever you want.

As for the war in Iraw and should US forces be there, the poll is slowly showing that most of us are leaning toward "NOT" for very good reasons I think.

Question

How can anyone say we are increasing terrorism with being in Iraq?

How many times were we (as American Interests) attacked under the Clinton watch?

**World Trade Center (first time Feb. 26, 1993)
**June 25, 1996, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia - the Khobar Towers military complex
**Aug. 7, 1998, Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2 embassies were hit)
**October 12, 2000 the USS Cole

Grant the fact - from 2001 - 2005 we were hit once a year BUT the first one should NOT be totally on Bush!

9/11 was more than just a Bush fault and problem since he had been fighting with the Gore crowd for several months into his election (instead of getting on with the business at hand)

Look at some of the direct and indirect out comes of being in the war on terror:

Afghanistan is now free (to the extent THEY chose to be)
Iraq is as FREE as they have elected to be
Saudi Arabia has had political movement towards free elections
Palestine is progressing
Libya decided to straighten up
The youth of Iran are starting to stir up actions.

Why did this happen? Why is this Bad??

What business did we have in Bosnia? How were they a risk to American's? We are STILL THERE!

Someone has to STOP the Bullies!

Our government does that all over the world (including here in the states)

People say Our Government should fix things here

What things?

Our Poor are the richest poor in the WORLD!
What other country can poor afford cable tv and cell phones?

Where else can a homeless person go from HOMELESS to owning a new home in 5 years? In this country - it is do-able!

You have good points and I agree we should be in Afghanistan. It was the manipulation that bush did over Iraq and his impatience. Also, ultimately the United Nations reports were found by our military to be correct. There was no threat-we could have developed a plan. Like it or not you do need support of other countries to fight terrorism, nuclear proliferation and dictators. Why did we invade Iraq. ??What was the reason. Only 1 year before the government posted a list of the worlds worst dictators. Saddam did not make the list. It was Kim Jong(who actually does have WMD's), the saudi prince was#2 ( bush's close friend), then various dictators in Africa. So why did we suddenly need to bomb Iraq? Was it WMD ?was it our kind hearts wishing to free Iraq above other dictatorships, was it oil... I dont know but I do know that it had nothing to do with a threat or 9/11. So are we safer and is the world better.. I dont thik so
dictator of Burna was #3 then we went to various African dictators

How can you call the saudi prince as bush's close friend?

That was who ALSO gave a large amount of money to Clinton's (legacy) library!

. . . just making a small point here . . .

The weekly standard a conservative magazine reported right before the elction that Bush and Kerry would probably spend about the same. At that point because of the war of choice their military spending was the same Kerry had slightly more social programs Bush had tax cuts for the wealthiest. I personally got a huge tax break from Bush. Our joint income is over 400,00 but is it worth it? We lost headstart in our comunity, my children have a bigger debt to pay off, police forces have been cut, education is a disaster with federal support nil (Bush is all talk with no child left behind) our schools are in crisis mode and teachers refer to Bush's education plan as no child left untested. It used to be republicans were strong with budget and keeping government out of private citizens lives. Democrats tend to spend more on social programs Going back and forth between the two seem to balance the two parties....well now Bush has changed the republican party it is government in your religion your bedroom and spend spend spend whilr giving tax breaks to our wealthiest citizens and corporations. Moderrated democrats stand for a strong military, contrlled socail spending and not running us in debt ot make the wealthiest even wealthier. But that all aside regardless how you feel Bush is not aleader, not capapble of critical decisons, has run everything he has touched into bankruptcy(oil co, texas reangers) someone always cleaned up his messes and now the next generation will clean up hisa mess. His rhetoric and decisions may change the worl where we don ont even have to think about money, social problems, crime etc. So back to me personally Id rather support programs that stop the spread of crime, drugs, poverty, and support education. Not handouts that is a myth!!! Clinton welfare to work was the most successful program with the least amount to people on the government rolls. Your rrhetoric is all bumpersticer mths about liberals. I cannot be selfish or shortsighted enough to enjoy a huge tax break I did not need and see a government that takes $ from lobbyist and allows our eniormwent to be trashed, our elderly to be driven into poverty with pharmaceutical price gauging allowed by our government. I pay taxes, support my community follow laws and belive that a moderate democratic presdient that can work with the United Nations and cares about our childrens future not just my friends fat pocketbooks is our hope and future.

There are definitely tons of myths being spread around about liberals - it's part of the right-wing attack machine's goals. If you distort what liberals think, you can convince the public to vote for people who they would never support otherwise. The attack ads on Democrats on the homeland security department in 2002 are a prime example. They proposed the department in the first place - and then the republicans claimed they were opposing it and that it was their idea all along.

Default OK, let's take it slowly for the benefit of our ......

liberal friends of limited intellect.

Did Saddam Hussein massacre 10's of thousands of Kurdish men, women and children using WMD's ? Yes or No

Did Saddam Hussein commit genocide by slaughtering Hundreds of Thousands of Shiite men, women and children ? Yes or No

Did the Russians, French, Germans, Italians, Egyptians, Israelis and United Nations agree that Saddam Hussein possessed and was working to possess WMD's ? Yes or No

Do both the "W" Bush and Clinton administrations share the blame for the intelligence failures of both 9/11 and Iraq ? Yes or No

Did the fundamentally flawed Clinton policy of "visibility" into our intelligence institutions (and effectively dismantling them) contribute to the failure?
Yes or No

Should we give comfort and encouragement to the enemy by even debating our efforts in Iraq ? Yes or No

Now that we are there, whether you agree or disagree, should we stay and finish the job right ? Yes or No

Should we declare a classic French Surrender - turn tail and run ? Yes or No

I thank God every day that George W Bush is our President and I pray that God blesses him, this country, our troops, their families and all of you.

13. Saudi Arabia has as many human rights violations as Iraq did and 15 of the hijackers were Saudi-why did Bush not address this at all and only focus on Iraq?
