The way I figure it, like land mines, cluster bombs are great if you're trying to stop a massive Soviet invasion of Western Europe but I don't see much use for them aside from that kind of scenario. Let's face it - Israel totally abused cluster bombs in Lebanon. If they weren't willing to go in there and deal with Hezbollah on the ground in an effective way, there's nothing that all the cluster bombing in the world could have accomplished.

Besides, it's not like there are any shortage of alternatives in the anti-personnel munitions department to cluster bombs, is there?

Nah, the Islamic freaks are still pretty well limited to blowing up buses and pizza parlors. Plus themselves... If we could only get them to kill just themselves for Allah, I'm sure the rest of us wouldn't mind.
