Smile Israeli influence on Congress

Short article. 3-4 minute read.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0126/p09s01-coop.html

Interesting story. Considering the fact that we give Israel financial support, it seems to me Israel sort of plays the same role as a defense contractor. Congress gives them Taxpayer money, they spend it to some extent on buying weapons from us(employing Americans) and lobbying Congress. Helps to keep the entrenched, somewhat pro-Israel Congress in power.

I agree with this articles sentiment. If we can't put the lid on these(see article) groups influence there should be an equivalent but opposite group created for the Palestinean(Arab) side that works to financially balance this influence on our Congressional members.

To be frank. I am for public funded, limited expenditure, election campaigns. But since our greedy - entrenched - controlling interest beaurocracy is against that position(read: money == free speech ) I would prefer a group with equal and opposite sentiment to neutralize this effect.

IMO, this is the heart of our terrorism problem.

I might be able to accept that you personally don't think the Arabs have a voice in Washington DC but for anyone in the media to make such a claim is... well... it's stupid. Of course the csmonitor is hardly a part of the real media, so I guess one has to consider the source.

I think u word-smithed what I said to make something you could argue with. "you personally don't think the Arabs have a voice in DC".

I said the Palestineans(Arabs) needed a voice equal to Israeli's with our Congress.

Do they now or have they ever had equal or near equal influence with our Congress/Admin In your opinion? Y or N

You better believe it.

If you don't think the Arab Palestinians are represented by the collective Arab voice in DC and by the economic terrorism imposed on the West by OPEC, then think again. Their battle cries and claims of victim status can be heard reverberating off the walls of every building in Washington DC. And then of course there's the support the Arab Palestinians get directly from their Arab brothers in the Middle East where Israel has none.

Kix just dostorts reality.

No they don't. Israel has far more influence than ANY nation on earth in Washington.

The rest is 'Kixian' distortions.

One note of interest-This administration has done more toward putting pressure on Isreal to resolve their problems with the Palestinians than any previous administration ever has.

Curious as to what makes you make that assertion, can you elaborate?

Nothing overt, no major links, just observation. I think that it took real pressure from this admin. to get them to pull out of the Gaza, and for them to give up their Jewish settlements there. Also, there has been some real condemnations for some the Isreals actions by this admin. And don't you think Isreals nose might just be a little bent, when this admin. recognises Abbas as the President of the Palestinians, and that we now recognise the Palestinians have a right to their own "country".

Freedom, the US also pressured Isreal to stop the war against Hezobalh. the Isrealis lost the peace when they left gaza.
