Peace Corps
Peace Corps used to be a dream of mine. I had plans to graduate college and spend two years in Bolivia. However, there became too many economic reasons to stay (making money). So I have yet to sign up. Recently however, I've come to experience a litney of bad impressions of peace corp. my roommate's cunt girlfriend was applying. This girl couldn't help herself to anything but another plate of food. Thankfully, she was declined, of course because she is a fat ass, but possibly other reasons. However, several other people I have met that have returned from the trip couldn't be stupider. A teacher, for example, ended up spending her trip with a boyfriend both getting addicted to an amphetamine in ethopia they called Kohl (I believe). More people still, when I ask about their experiences it doesn't seem to me like they're helping anyone. If the intention of peace corps was to send America's best and brightest to help out, we are fucking up! Instead, I believe peace corps is being abused as a vacation destination for some lazy assholes without a braincell of worthy information. Do I really want to be associated with this bullshit?

>>>Why the Peace Corps? My neice, for example, is spending her summer from school putting roofs on houses in NO. Just go and do something on your own. The Peace Corps is full of escapists. Sorta like the old French Foreign Legion.

I was in the corps several years ago... (as you know)... it was far different then. George is right, do something else. There are many places that have summer trips that will pay for housing and support your efforts. Or you can pay your own way. Some good places to start are, FeedthePoor.org the Salvation Army and AidforAfrica.org,...
I can call some people if you are really interetsed.
I am sure, that no matter where you live, there is somekind of volunteering program that could use you. My husband, children, and I volunteer all the time. I want my kids to know this world isn't just about them. Selfish people seem to be everywhere, it's the givers that seem to be rare these days.
I loved the peace corps. I learned a lot about people, culture and survival. Everyday that I live now is a blessing. I learned never to take anything for granted. It makes you a tougher person, emotionally and physically. And all while doing something good for others. Good luck.

I really don't see you as a peace corps kinda guy Sub, you once had this to say while debating morality...
If you saw a stranger shot and bleeding to death on the side of the road, would you help him?

You still put yourself before others. You don't help people because you believe they deserve it, or care about them. You base your morality off of your own concience, which is flawed to the greatest degree.
Hitler share your views on morality as well.

Israel is the most dangerous place for pacifists
and social workers.
As a fact there are more journalists who were killed in
Palestine or Gaza than in the whole 2WW.
Israelis do not like to have witnesses in their dirty work.

Only a total asshole could turn a discussion regarding the peace corp into another mindless screed against the Jews.
I think I will start a thread on why corn flakes is the only food that should ever be eaten for breakfast just to see how you work your anti semitism into that.

I put my life before other people's lives in hypotheticals, but is doesn't mean I have no humanitarian interests. I'm a huge supporter of amnesty international. Don't confuse my private self with my public self, I don't.
And I don't think Hitler and I have the same morality, that fool is a mass murderer, I'm just a shit talkin son of a gun.

And whats up with these programs. I don't want to be stuck teaching english to some kids in a classroom. I'd rather help them build their homes, something more to do with my expertise.
So this fat roommate girl friend is now doing...shit whats it called... America Corps or something. I guess the idea being that people in the deep south can't even wipe their own ass. I'd ideally like to go to South America, master Spanish while I'm out and about. But you're saying some of those places you listed take place only during summers? they aren't two year stints?
