But that is a loss compared to the 10+ "TRILLION" DOLLARS, wasted on social reform that has only brought us an increased crime rate of over 300% and managed to raise the Projected status of someone living in poverty to up to 200% of the "actual" poverty line? As now we are to believe that anyone making 40,000 dollars a year are living in a state of swallow and poverty. A great way to spend the funds that are now being spent on national security.....Like I said, defense first, social waste second. Every dime spent on our military and our nations defense is not waste but peace thru strength.....a concept that the communist have never taken to. BD

Have you ever really looked at why social programs don't work? Could it possibly be because they are given/cut on a whim? Could it be because we don't nurture the one's that will help people out of poverty?

Not every dime spent on our military is peace thru strenghth. That is really naive. I bet you could find alot of waste, overspending, and unfortunately it isn't being spent on our troops.

My statement just considered the facts as presented. I said that waste is relative to perception.....and I deem it more wasteful to spent our tax monies on programs that have done nothing but keep the status quo, in relation to poverty and actually lost in relation to moral issues surrounding poverty. And again the first and most paramount duty of the federal government is National Security....not the adoption of the state responsibility to care for their citizens at a local level.....where actual needs can be determined and meet. A national social program is just simply to wasteful in management cost and actual helps provided.....in fact just look at the most "successful" program to date....the social security program...a fair and just program, which in theory would work.....if we could keep the politicians from dipping into the funds...a practice that has lead to the "certain" failure of the program unless reform is made....Like I said, there is one and only one thing that the federal government is good at, as it should be because really it is the reason that it was formed.......NATIONAL SECURITY. BD

George, your correct about the waste, but it is nothing new. Every large organization has waste and could run more effienctly.

$2,000,000,000 per bomber x 44 bombers (last I heard) = a whole lot of waste, my friend. Especially when you consider all the ICBMs and Trident submarines we have.
