Boortz acknowledges that. Its like the state lotteries for education. We have the lottery but we also still have the taxes (which aren't being spent on education)

gm, your right about this. I read the book over a year ago and I still have to go back from time to time to re read portions of the book.

That's a great point, Steve Forbes also always talks about that which is why he supports the flat tax. He said on Fox one time that politicans would be only one cause away from bringing it back (income tax) if the fair tax was implemented. Like I said earlier, we need to make sure politicians at the state level don't take advnatge of it as well by increaing state income tax, especially since the state levels are no where near as visible.

Is there a spark notes version of this fair tax you speak of? Does it tax goods like food etc?

The book is called the Fair Tax. It can be ordered online or bought at your local book store.

Sparks Notes???? Why not just read it for yourself and make your own opinions about the ideas presented. The title of the book is "Fair Tax Book, Saying Goodbye to the Income Tax and the IRS" It's authors are Neal Boortz and John Linder and can be found on Amazon.com for about $11.00. Its not a large book and I am sure that someone of your superior talent can read it in very short order.

I've heard a little about this book. It's biggest problems are that it's simplistic and it would probably work better!!!

Imagine - No tax Accountants needed, No bueracrcy in the IRS, everyone knowing from day to day or purchase by purchase just how much they've paid to Uncle Sam and how much they'll probably pay in a year, No back taxes, etc.

Ah well, welcome to politics and government. It's never the BEST way, it's the way that is BEST presented.
