Tony Snow likely to take White House post
Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sources close to the White House said Monday that Fox anchor Tony Snow is likely to accept the job as White House press secretary, succeeding Scott McClellan.

The sources said they expect him to announce his decision within the next few days.

A source familiar with the discussions said Monday that newly appointed Chief of Staff Josh Bolten asked Snow to make a decision by early this week.

Two sources familiar with the discussions said Bolten wanted to fill the post this week, as early as Tuesday.

Sources familiar with Snow's deliberations said he has been focusing on family, finances and his health.

The sources said Snow, who has been battling colon cancer, got a good prognosis from his doctor last week and that Snow resolved his concerns about taking the job over the weekend.

Neither Snow nor the White House would comment.

Sources familiar with the matter said the White House approached the Fox anchor several weeks ago. Snow then met with Bolten and other officials at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Snow serves as a political analyst for Fox News Channel, which he joined in 1996.

He was a nationally syndicated columnist with The Detroit News in Detroit, Michigan, from 1993 to 2001 and was a columnist for USA Today from 1994 to 2000.

Before that, he was an editorial writer at The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia; editorial page editor of The Daily Press in Newport News, Virginia; deputy editorial page editor of The Detroit News; and editorial page editor of The Washington Times.

The conservative radio talk show host, who was born in 1955, served as a speech writer for President Bush's father in 1991.

In a separate personnel matter, discussions are also continuing about replacing Treasury Secretary John Snow, said two sources familiar with the issue and a third GOP source close to the White House.

Republicans familiar with the discussions said David Mulford, currently U.S. ambassador to India and a former Treasury Department official who also was the European chief of Credit Suisse First Boston, is considered a candidate for the job.

CNN's John King contributed to this report.

I might owe whatshername an apology?

NO> I still think that she is dangerously obsessed with Murdoch.

I like T. Snow and think that he would do a great job.

What do you think?

This is old news but very interesting. He has been sucking up to this administration for a long time with very adoring onesided news stories. sun tabloid reported this 3 weeks ago with a special report. At that point in time our media was listing 3 contenders but they were reporting snow was already chosen.(remeber this tabloid also owns fox) Now I think he has more PR skills than McClelland who always looked like he had a gun to his head. I think its perfect and I think a lot of Fox people should be Bush"s yes men because they already are but at least it would be clear to the sheaple. Now I did see something a week ago on Fox late at night and it shocked me. I tuned in for 3 minutes and came in mid story so let that be clear. It was Cavvuto(sp) who seems very sincere and pleasant yet is clearly a die hard right wing corporate guy. He had a dem and repub on his program and the topic was immigration. The few minutes I caught he was admonishing the republicans because of some ad the republican party took out in spanish to gain hispanic support for the next election. He accused the republicans of the spanish message saying it was a lie and complete misrepresentation of what most republicans were fighting for. He said the ad was misleading and was more representative of harry reid.He accused the republican party of using this ad only to get hispanic votes and the ad was completely false. i was shocked. Fox usually only reports one view and leaves out half the facts so I found this odd. I wonder if Neil will get fired ! I have only tuned in to fox once or twice late at night this week and they are back on the Natalee Holloway story. If you want both sides watch Anderson cooper he actually has intelligent representatives on both sides of an issue and he is not a coward. He actually lets them finish a sentence unlike hannity who has the bravery of a 4 year old girl.

Do your search and read the transcript where hume tells families killed in iraq "to just get over it" I do not know whose relative he is but he has such a media bias and slanted view of the world I feel sorry for him. His ex wife has even said he was insensitive to his sons suicide and his sick persoanlity contributed to it. He is not one to listen to. No wonder he was the only Cheney would talk to about his problems. He was probably the only coward who would sign a paper and agree not to ask the tough questions. Why not just put a poster of Bush on your wall and bow to him every night rather than spend an hour listening to Hume. Its the same activity except that just bowing to Bush poster would save you 59 minutes in your day.

Baaa BAAAa Baaaaa Jimmy join the Bush sheep and keep watching Brit and Hannity and Oreilly and read the Sun and then when your finished go to the grocery and pick up a copy of "The enquirer"...I think they use fox for their Holloway stories.

Much the same way that I feel about Wolf Blitzer, Jim Lehrer, Dan Rather, Bob Woodruff, David Gregory, et al.
