They might belong to a political party, but even during an election most of them don't even vote. Do you really think they would do anymore than ignore Washington, for a considerable period of time.

The only people a dictator would need worry about, initially, are those in close proximity to DC, and most of them are liberals who would support a Socialist Dictator anyway.

Im serious...what would Day 1 of an attempted dictatorship in the USA be like?

Would the entire armed forces follow such a ruling?

Would the people just take it lying down?
Would the Military revolt? As a whole or partially? (Under someone like Colin Powell or Stormin Norman or Wes Clark would the military attempt to crush this takeover)?

Serious answers please.

I believe that long before the nucleous of such a revolt matured it would be crushed by the police or national guard.
It's difficult for me to imagine that such a revolt would even get off the ground because it would take too long to unify it's members and it would be obvious to the FBI and other agencies early on.
It would be nipped in the bud.
Besides, our government has already been taken over...think Aipac.
