Default $15 for first checked bag ....

Quote:
American Airlines announced this morning that, as of next month, most passengers will have to pony up $15 for their first checked bag.

American Airlines said the move, a potential game-changer for the industry, is part of an effort to deal with the skyrocketing price of oil.

Crude closed at a new high of $133.17 a barrel in New York, up 3.3% from Tuesday, and traders pushed it to $134 a barrel in after-hours trading. Crude is up 38% this year and more than 200% since the end of 2004.

>>>I can remember when gas would go up 3.3% in a year. Now it's going up 3.3% overnight. I can also remember hyperinflation in Brazil a few years ago. Say, don't Bush and Cheney remind you of those jack-booted colonels who use to run that poor country?

Btw, I agree with AA charging for checked baggage. Buy more clothes when you get there.

This is an election year and Democrats control Congress.

Democrats will not question the Hedge Funds that are buying these oil futures.

Hedge Funds own the Democrat party!

Hedge Funds make big money when the US economy is doing poorly.

There is the truth about this mysterious rise in oil prices.

Screw the airlines, all of them. Even with gas at $4.00 per gal it's cheaper to drive than to fly. So what if it takes a little longer. It's also much, much more enjoyable, than putting up with arrogant flight attendants, obnoxious passengers and endless delays. Let them charge $100 per bag. I don't care, they won't get it from me.

We fly alot so it does effect our family, our extended family is spread out all over the US. A family of 4 usually has 3-4 suitcases for a 7-10 day trip. That's an extra $60 on top of the ticket, airport parking, ect. We will continue to fly, but probably just fly airlines that don't charge for the bags. I wonder when they'll start to charge for the carry on's as well or start charging us by how much we weigh?

>>>Okay, I'll play your silly game. How do hedge fund managers control the Democrat Party any more than they control the Republican Party?

Are hedge fund managers another in a hugely long list of RNC strawmen?

I know a kid whose bag was a couple pounds overweight and the airlines wanted to charge him some crazy amount. He went into the restroom, put on four pairs of skivvies, three shirts and a coat, and a couple pairs of slacks. Made the weight limit.
