If I'm a boss, and if I hear that ...
somebody is keeping a firearm in his car while he's at work, he's fired. He can take me to court later. As a business owner, I reserve the right to get pissed at an employee without having to fear that the employee is going to the parking lot to get his Glock. Fuck Charlie Crist.

I'm sure you won't have that to worry about.
If you are truly that reactionary and have no regard for any consequences for hasty actions , you probably aren't (or won't be) a 'boss' with anything to say on the matter.
You could of course prohibit the possession of weapons on your property - well within your rights. But what would stop an employee from parking next door or across the street , or in the street?
You get wind that he legally carries , but , being an obedient employee , he leaves his gun locked in his car. Being knee-jerk , you fire him when you find this out.
Now , if he's nutty , which MUST be your assumption based on your irrational response to your new found info - and you just fired him because you don't want to worry about setting off a nut...well...
Now if on the other hand he's not at all nutty , which of course is the more likely case , and he's merely excersizing his rights, AND obeying your ill-informed limitations , you just handed him the keys to your company - your false bravado regarding lawsuits notwithstanding.
Either way - YOU LOSE.
How wise of you.
p.s. where can I send my resume'?

Does a business owner have the right to dictate what an employee may or may not legally have in his car? Could I fire an employee if he had a copy of Playboy in his car? How about cigars? I like motorcycles but am no fan of Harley Davidson, could I fire an employee if he had Harley parts in his car? Could I fire him if he had Ron Paul stickers on his bumper? Free Tibet??? If its legal to have a gun in your car how is it any different from the above?

We all want protection from people when you do them wrong. hmmmmmmm You yell you have the right to get pissed at him you mean get pissed treat him like shit or do anything you deam your higher than thou attitude says. And demand that he have no reprecutions toward you after all he is beneath you. Stop being a pussy ass bitch I have done costruction for years had my own company in california and now in Louisiana. Now here it is much more common to have those who carry because people have the right unlike california. Do I go off on people hell ya shit just goes wrong. Is it always the persons fault I go off on, no. Do I worry about him going and getting his gun, hell no because for one we are men. Boss or no boss if I act like a spoiled little bitch on the rag someone is going to tell me to fuck off and back off. See you lead by example and they listen because they respect you. Besides if they go for their car (you know that ocasional psycho)and come at me with a gun I will introduce them to the knock down power of a ruger 44. You hit me with this shit at the wrong time I just had it out on the phone with best buy. They would help you and take care of any of their mistakes but now that comp usa is closed they are the only one on the block and basicaly tell you tuff shit. I'm going over their in person later. Does anyone know the difference between a router and a switch? Fucken geek squaud idiot convinced me I could use the new linksys switch and it would do basicaly what the router does. I don't know every new thing they come out with so I bought his shit. Got home pluged it in did not work called the geek squad he tried all this bullshit on the computer. Oh look at this look at this, of course like I told him at first I already checked all of that besides I have a belkin hub that I have used for a year it is plug and play so that is all I have to do with this that is what you said it would do. Oh he said you might have got a bad one. So I called linksys out of curiousity and asked them, fucken idiot lied and did not know what he was talking about a switch is still just a switch it does nothing more than it did before. It is a spliter for a router plain and simple. So I call a manager at best buy explained the whole thing an asked if I could get a discount on a new router when I came back in to return the switch. I mean after all gas is like gold baby you know nothing major just a jesture to say hey sorry for OUR MISTAKE. He tells me bring it back in but I'm not gauranteing anything. I bet if I put a fucken 44 to his damn temple he would and his dumb ass employee expert that misinformed me and sold me the fucken thing with out knowing his ass from a whole in the ground. Oh but that would make me psycho huh george. Fuck off if we kick ass for no good reason for the politicians or kill for the pussies behind a desk we are hero's we do it for protection of our own rational justified reasons we are psycho. Kiss my ass if more people got an ass whooping for fucking over other people maybe people would straiten up and fly right.

Yes. Since you are the employer, it is your business. You have every right to fire or hire anyone you wish, and for any reason.

While I agree to a point, I believe it would be throughly immoral to fire someone under those conditions. I may have the right to fire them but would I win a lawsuit if I say, fired someone because they were not recycling in their home?
I guess in reality a better question would be SHOULD I FIRE SOMEONE UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS? What does that say about me, the employer and how long before most of my employees leave for a less controlling boss?
