Out my way, they could have found Andrea "Guilty But Insane". She did kill those kids, you know.

Finding Andrea Yates not guilty for any reason is an example of insanity itself.

That would have been a good verdict. She did after all call the police after they were dead.

THis is a seriously messed up woman though. At least in her mental hospital she may get some help. (She is not being set free for those of you who arent aware.)

She will still be locked up, in a mental institution. They will not let her out.

I think it sends the message that you can kill your kids and plead insanity, skip jail and stay at the looney house for a few years.

She'll probably be let out someday.

Poor kids.

Also you have to claim that God told you to do it, that is the key to an insanity defense. Or an Angel or Satan told you to kill.

Or your next door neighbors dog.

I am a mother and I can't fathom even thinking of killing my kids. I really believe she's insane or at best a narrascist, like Susan Smith. Unfortunately, Andrea will probably believe she did her children more good than harm.

While you would have to be crazy to do something like that, she knew what she was doing. According to her, it was her plan to send her kids to heaven.

What a whacko...

The scary thing is that she will not be tried again once the Doctors say she is sane enough to join society again. I raised 4 children and even though they had problems growning up, I never considered killing them to send them to heaven. If you beleive in heavin, then you do your best to teach your children how to live productive lives to get there.
