Australian leader: Al-Qaeda wants Obama
http://usatoday.com/news/world/2007-02-10-howard-obama_x.htm?imw=Y
SYDNEY, Australia (AP) — Australia's conservative prime minister slammed Barack Obama on Sunday over his opposition to the Iraq war, a day after the first-term U.S. senator announced his intention to run for the White House in 2008.
Obama said Saturday at his campaign kickoff in Springfield, Ill., that one of the country's first priorities should be ending the war in Iraq. He has also introduced a bill in the Senate to prevent President Bush from increasing American troop levels in Iraq and to remove U.S. combat forces from the country by March 31, 2008.
Australian Prime Minister John Howard, a staunch Bush ally who has sent troops to Iraq and faces his own re-election bid later this year, said Obama's proposals would spell disaster for the Middle East.
"I think that will just encourage those who want to completely destabilize and destroy Iraq, and create chaos and a victory for the terrorists to hang on and hope for an Obama victory," Howard said on Nine Network television.
"If I were running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and be praying as many times as possible for a victory, not only for Obama but also for the Democrats."

Of course Little Johnny Howard doesnt want to be seen just yet, that he is about to pull his head out of gwbs backside. Besides Howard is a racist through and through, so what would you expect.
Never in the history of this country, have we had a Primemininster that has blantly lied to the people and got away with it. Well Little Johnnys days are numbered this time around, unless he can pull a terrorist attack out of his hat, which wouldnt surprise me. Both political parties in this country are gutless wonders, so when Labour is elected into power this year, we should expect the same Kowtowing attitude towards the US government.

It would appear that the CIA's attempts to corrupt the Autralian electorial process has been a rousing success. That's unfortunate for the people of Australia. Great country and people, but given a chance, the US will corrupt it and drag it down to its level.

Be Afraid!
That appears to be the goal of the administration and it's supporters.
Be afraid, be constantly afraid! Only we can save you! The evildoers are going to get you if you don't blindly follow us....
It's the same tactic conservatives get so rankled by when it comes to environmental issues. Global warming comes to mind...
Chicken Little and Chicken Hawks...
When are we going to start thinking again, and quit being afraid?
I admit fear can be effective in mobilizing support for an idea, but it is a bullshit way to go about it.

I love Obamas response.
Kind of puts a 'small reactionary fear mongering mind' in perspective...
Obama, in Iowa a day after formally announcing his candidacy, responded to Howard's initial comments by saying he was flattered that one of Bush's close allies had chosen to single him out for attack.
He then challenged Howard on his commitment to the Iraq conflict, noting the United States has nearly 140,000 troops in Iraq compared with Australia's about 1,400 forces in the region.
"So if he is ginned up to fight the good fight in Iraq, I would suggest that he calls up another 20,000 Australians and sends them to Iraq,'' Obama said. "Otherwise it's just a bunch of empty rhetoric.''

That was a strong response and something everyone can recognise whether you like him or not.

You are absolutely right. I don't even see the need for a military. . .except to fulfill for our own capitalist, warmongering, imperialistic needs! The only reason we have this war (and others like it) is because we go sticking our nose in others' business. If someone has intentions of genocide, or nuclear armament, or ethnic cleansing, whatever. If it is not in the US it should not affect the US. When will we learn. Stupid neocon, knuckle-dragging nazis, they have destroyed the world in as little as 8 years.

What difference does it make where the genocide, ethnic cleansing, and nuclear armament is taking place? It sounds as if you're saying that it's okay as long as it happens somewhere else?

I think its a given that if we pull out of Iraq before the Iraqi government can defend itself we will have lost this war, sold out the Iraqi people and given the Muslims extremist (is there any other kind) the go ahead to take over the world.
Can anyone say "Chamberlein"????
