In short, Darwin is the father of racism. His theory was taken up and commented on by such 'official' founders of racism as Arthur Gobineau and Houston Stewart Chamberlain, and the racist ideology which emerged was then put into practice by the Nazis and other fascists. James Joll, who spent long years as a professor of history at universities such as Oxford, Stanford, and Harvard, explained the relationship between Darwinism and racism in his book Europe Since 1870, which is still taught as a textbook in universities.

Honestly, I think the entire basis for present day racism revolves around 1 thing....

A racist is attempting to make themselves feel better............. One means of doing that is by treating someone as an underling causing themselves to feel more powerful and/or better than the other person...

This holds true on so many other topics which include but not limited to class envy, religion, intelligence, personal achievements, physical appearance, popularity, politics!

I agree. They are lacking in their personal lives.
Michelle Obama feels very inferior.

Yes, something which explains why certain traits have become dominant is certainly very useful to racists, but it's also been useful to millions of other people, most of them have contributed positively to the world. Knowledge is a tool, it's how you use it that makes it good or evil.

You know, there's a book that says women should be chattel, blacks are inferior, and slavery is just fine.

It's the bible. It inspired things like the crusades, where thousands if not millions of innocents were killed. It inspired the Inquisitions, the salem witch burnings, etc etc..

You know, it also inspired a lot of people to do good things, to sacrifice their lives to help others..

So, is the bible good or bad?

As I recall, the bible is nothing more than paper with words on it.
I guess if a person digested enough pages from the bible, it could make them ill. Otherwise, the bible is harmless.
It's the bad people that use religion to fulfill their bad agenda that are the problem.

I have never translated evolution into this is superior to that. If evolving a new adaption make you superior then we are in trouble....many things have longer DNA than humans.

In short, Darwin is the father of racism. His theory was taken up and commented on by such 'official' founders of racism as Arthur Gobineau and Houston Stewart Chamberlain, and the racist ideology which emerged was then put into practice by the Nazis and other fascists. James Joll, who spent long years as a professor of history at universities such as Oxford, Stanford, and Harvard, explained the relationship between Darwinism and racism in his book Europe Since 1870, which is still taught as a textbook in universities:

Charles Darwin, the English naturalist whose books On the Origin of Species, published in 1859, and The Descent of Man, which followed in 1871, launched controversies which affected many branches of European thought… The ideas of Darwin, and of some of his contemporaries such as the English philosopher Herbert Spencer, …were rapidly applied to questions far removed from the immediate scientific ones… The element of Darwinism which appeared most applicable to the development of society was the belief that the excess of population over the means of support necessitated a constant struggle for survival in which it was the strongest or the 'fittest' who won. From this it was easy for some social thinkers to give a moral content to the notion of the fittest, so that the species or races which did survive were those morally entitled to do so.

The doctrine of natural selection could, therefore, very easily become associated with another train of thought developed by the French writer, Count Joseph-Arthur Gobineau, who published an Essay on the Inequality of Human Races in 1853. Gobineau insisted that the most important factor in development was race; and that those races which remained superior were those which kept their racial purity intact. Of these, according to Gobineau, it was the Aryan race which had survived best… It was.. Houston Stewart Chamberlain who contributed to carrying some of these ideas a stage further… Hitler himself admired the author (Chamberlain) sufficiently to visit him on his deathbed in 1927.
True to a small extent, however evolution lead to genetics and genetics is showing how equal all the races really are. So in short evolution, like the bible, can be used to prove or disprove racism. That you insist that only evolution should be blamed shows how dishonest you are being on this.

Imagine if they wrote religion?

After all, it's "been responsible for the slaughter of multi-millions of people, and the destruction of freedom all over the earth".

But someone with a PHD from a baptist college probably wouldn't mention that.
I do not know about people being racist thousands of years before evolution? Racial hatred is a learned behavior. Evolution has only been around for 150 years.

A divine creation is more credible than an explosion.
