Yes. It can be won if we have the stomach for victory.

I admire your enthusiasm and hope you are right. It seems like this will be a generational war. As long as people are desperate and unsatisfied, terror lurks. It seems right now that Cons need the pretext of war on global terror to invade soveriegn nations and attempt to instill an assimilated Govt. Whether the people want it or not.

I think it can be won. It is just going to take different solutions for different situations. I don't think that the war on terror will not be won by force of arms alone.

One big problem or obstacle is the sour relations between Arabs and Jews and our support of Israel. Even if we did not support Israel, nobody likes us. We have Americans that don't like us. I love America, but disagree with the Administration and I am skeptical about certain "goings on". I imagine nothing but a pile of dead bodies in the future, yet we will still be at terror level red, in the future.

Exactly, I don't know. But the current Administration is using that term.

We can win the war on terror, like we can win the war on drugs, poverty or illegal imigration...

You can't win a war on an idea. . .

Terrorism needs to be treated as a high priority crime. Politicians (both sides do it) keep pulling out the 9/11 card to scare americans into taking away our liberties and wastefully spend money "protecting" every little nowhere town in the country.

Specifically trained terrorist elimination special forces are the key. If we did that we would basically have the support of the world because terrorism is a growing problem everywhere.

Terrorism will always be around, it can be contained and kept to a minimum, but like I said, it is an idea and ideas don't die.

Scoody,

In your opinion, what results would have to occur for everyone to generally believe, "Ok we just won the war on terror"?

Osama Bin Laden being captured or killed?
Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon all becoming bustling capitalist democracies?
No terrorist attacks for 20 years?

What exactly, in your opinion?
