Just read an interesting bit of information about John Brown the Abolitionist who staged the raid on Harpers Ferry VA (now West Virginia). Brown was executed for treason but not treason against the United States but treason against the State of Virginia. If one could be treasonous against a state prior to the War of Northern Agression what do you think is the ramifications of this and the rights of the state to secede from the Union?

You never had the "right" to grant Southern states the ability to secede. It was implied in the Federalist Papers.

And no, George, it was not just capitalist Carpet Baggers, no more than Hilliary Clinton is a capitalist Carpet Baggers. If it had not be for the restrictions imposed on the South by Reconstruction the Carpet Baggers and Scalawags would never have gotten a foothold.
