Default Answer this Question and I will forever be your friend

In the NFL, what was the worst Free-Agent signing ever. I mean in terms of being a monumental bust. I need the Player and the team he signed with. Submit your responses as I will reveal the answer on Sept. 20, 2006 5:00 central time.

I'll have to think about it, but the worst two trades were Ditka trading all of his picks for Ricky Williams (who wasn't even the best back in that draft - Edgerin form the U), or the Vikings giving up all those draft picks to the Cowboys for Herschel Walker.

Any deal involving Jeff George.

Default My first guess...a real stinker...

Joe Namath (from the Jets) to the Los Angeles Rams, signed by the Rams on May 12, 1977.

After a 2-1 start with the Rams Namath took a beating on a cold, windy, and rainy Monday night game in a one point loss at the Chicago Bears and was through for the season. He was warming up to play in the second half of a muddy home play-off game against the Minnesota Vikings because his replacement at quarterback, Pat Haden, was having trouble handling the wet ball, but he was never inserted and the Rams problems continued, ultimately losing - Rams 7 Vikings 14. He retired from the Rams after a single season.

Well the Green Bay Packers chose Tony Mandarich (Left Tackle, No. 2 overall, 1989) over Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders and Derrick Thomas!

That may be the worst draft choice ever, I am looking for Free Agent Signing. Let's not rule out Mario Williams of NC State as a possible worst draft choice ever.

Ok, here it is the answer.....Tony Boseli for the Houston Texans, the guy never even suited up. He retired due to previous injuries. What a bust, he was to be the franchise guy. Jeff George was a good one, but he at least played, albeit, poorly.

I am kind of partial to Andre Rison being the worst free agent signing ever. Modell said he had to "scrape the bottom of the barrell" to get the money to pay him. He then used this argument when leaving Cleveland. Bastard. I think they scraped the bottom of the barrell when they signed him. He was a bust in Cleveland.

The Colts picked up a guy named Payton Manning, by passing on Ryan Leaf.
