Now, taking into account that the Big East had more teams included in the original 64, at this point in time the PAC 10 has a better winning percentage that the Big East.
But fully half of the PAC 10 couldn't get past the first round, which might indicate that they shouldn't have been there in the first place. The Big East deserved to have more teams in the original 64, and proved it with seven first round wins. The only loss was a clear upset with UCONN, whereas it was very questionable whether or not Arizona should have got in at all. The whining of Arizona State fans was even more laughable, there were a few teams that were more deserving than they were.

After the next round look for one PAC 10 team to still be in and perhaps one Big East team, but it is not indicative of the Big East conference from top to bottom. It is a brutal schedule. The 5-8 teams in the Big East can beat anyone at any time, no other conference can make that claim (granted there are 16 teams in the Big East).

We will see what happens, but you have to admit that WSU's holding of Notre Dame to only 41 points was rather impressive. Of course the Cougars have got NC next.

Both conferences now have three teams remaining, while the ACC and SEC each only have one. However, while the PAC 10 teams (UCLA, Stanford, WSU) were somewhat expected, the three Big East teams are a bit surprising. No Georgetown, no Notre Dame and no UConn.

First. I cannot see who is going beat North Carolina. They are too good and too well coached by Roy Williams.

Second, I will have to miss the Friday night Memphis/Mich St. matchup because of a previously scheduled event (I will have to check the score on the break ). I was hoping they would play this game on Thursday but no luck, oh well. Memphis cannot make any mistakes if they are going to get past the Spartans. They can do it but Mich St. is a very well coached team, there is a reason why coaches who win NCAA titles are so highly thought of like Tom Izzo.

The Stanford/Texas one is aother war that I will be watching. I cannot call that one because the two teams have strengths where the other has weaknesses.

Washington St. will have to really play out of their minds to beat UNC. If they thought UCLA was tough then they have not seen anything yet. UNC is so 'workman like' and plays two good halves unlike UCLA (bad first, great second).

I am not a big Dick Vitale fan but I have to admit he was right by saying (this morning), "those kids look down at their jerseys and see North Carolina Tarheels on the front and they play like it...they have that pride"

They play like this.

I know, NC looks awful good, but they haven't played a tough team yet. I also don't like the way Stanford has to play Texas in Houston. You can be sure 90% of the crowd will be pro Longhorns.

If Memphis gets past MS then this makes Texas with a home game against a #1 team (who is supposed to have that)...Texas gets the breaks on this.

Considering Texas is a no.2 seed that doesn't seem right. Memphis has more of a beef that Stanford. Maybe the stars will align and it will be Stanford-Memphis with a trip to the final four on the line.

I hate to say this as a Longhorn but I think you are right...since I work for Memphis I am pulling for them on this one. There would be a stream of fans going down to Houston adorned in blue from here as compared to Stanford alums. They sent out a special flyer on the email and there was a special section inthe paper this morning about how a Memphis fan can get tickets to Houston on Friday and Sunday. In the ten years I have worked here there has not been this sort of support. It is nice to see, I hope they can at least get to San Antonio.
