Baseball. Particularly St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

The thing that makes it great is the same thing that has made it lose some of it's popularity. It is hard. The great hitters succeed in getting hits 35% of the time. The very good only 30% of the time. Kids go away from baseball because it is too hard. It seems that everybody has to succeed or it is not very fun for them. I think people used to take on challenges a little better than they do today.

Closet thing I have seen is Henry (Hank) Aaron. Still remember the night on TV watching that hit off of All Dwoning and the Dodgers (I grew up in LA as Dodger fan).
It doesn't matter if Bonds breaks Aaron's record or not. Pujols will shatter it. The guy is amazing. In the second half of the 04' season, they said that he only swung through a total of nine pitches in the last 70 games. The true sign of a great player is that they make everybody else around them better, and he does that. I will have to say that my favorite is Eckstein though. Everybody underestimates the 5'8" shortstop. He simply makes plays and gets on base anyway he can.

He is a machine and I hate (love/hate) him because he is an Astros killer and he ended Brad Lidge's career.

My feelings are the same about Pujols, he is other worldly; the guy is not mortal, it is scary. And the interviews with him are fantastic (he is so humble) and he spends a lot of time doing charity work. Not only does he make his team look better but he makes the city of St. Louis and this region look better. You should see the 'Pujols' jerseys at even the Redbirds games, it is very cool. I love to see it. He needs to be the record holder and make all this contraversy about bad attitudes and steriods go away, all that just sucks to watch (but I know it is a reality). Every kid should be watching Pujols in my opinion.

Why did the Angels (who I followed for years) let Eckstein go? I am all that much happier to have him here with the 'good guys,' but I am not sure why the Angels with normally a good managment team let him go.

I have ALWAYS (since I was a kid) seen the Cards as the 'guys in the white hats,' the good guys even against the Dodgers. I think I was a Lou Brock and Bob Gibson fan very early. the Cardinals 'play by the rules' unlike how I think Steinbrenner and other owners do not. The Cards maybe the best franchise in all of baseball in my humble opinion, if not one of the best pro franchises ever. I really hope they can do it this year, it is time. The last two years have made me so sad the way it turned out for them after having such incredible seasons, and I was aboslutely torn when the Red Sox beat them (Sox are one of my top two with Cards). But, I was VERY happy to see the Sox do it. For me it was a very fun run for 2/3 years to see some teams win things that I actual watched and cared about...Texas Longhorns (BaseB and FB), White Sox, Red Sox, Pistons...blah blah blah...

Sorry guy, I laughed my a** off when I saw Pujols turn Lidge into his 'pool boy,' that one hit was literally out of the park (not just over the wall). My jaw hit the floor.

I think the only other thing I have seen lately that amazing was VY turning the USC defense into a bunch of bumbling fools.

I think the most amazing sports story I have seen recently was the autistic high school basketball manager getting into his first game ever and scoring something like 20 points in four minutes.

Lidge is a perfect example of how confidence plays a big part in sports. He still has great stuff, but a big mental problem out there.
