Football: Longhorns (Hook 'em, they ARE #1!), Packers (greatest of all franchises, owned by the people of Green Bay
Baseball: Longhorns (Hook 'em, greatest college baseball progam ever and the records prove it! Roger Clemens is from my alma mater, nothing more to say), go Cardinals and Red Sox...boo Yankees
Basketball: U of Memphis Tigers, Memphis Grizzlies, and the Lakers (not the current Lakers team though, Kobi is very unLakerish now, he has gone to the DARK SIDE)
Tennis: Pete Sampras (greatest to ever take the court!)

Materazzi took a dive when he got hit so that people would see him and make a bigger deal out of it.
Italy an Portugal play the same way; the ball goes to the other team and they fall down. They both suck.

On grass or concrete, but woefully average on clay. Clay always slowed down his big serve and without his serve he was like Larry Holmes without a great jab. Mediocre at best.

You make a good point but I have to disagree with you on certain things here.
I think Elliott Telcher or Roscoe Tanner might have had a bigger problem with that but Sampras ground stroke game far surpassed these guys (and many others). The control and ability of Sampras to 'play within himself' under extreme pressure was amazing, his split second decisions on the court were uncanny. Agassi was able to play longer but it took him so long to mature into a consistent player that his earlier career was plagued with bad decision making and tantrums on the court (and off too). Tiger Woods or Albert Pujols reminds me a lot of Sampras...no BS, just play the game and concentrate.
Got to see Pujols when he was with the AAA Redbirds here in Memphis, he was a pleasure to watch (he shelled AAA pitchers!). That team from 5 or 6 years ago that all moved on to the Cards won the AAA Pacific championship for minor league ball, no wonder why (the Redbirds suck now, Cards have to draft some new guys into the system so we can get better baseball here in town ). Great stadium though

Sampras was a great player. I am not saying otherwise. You could see him playing two or three shots ahead of the one he was hitting. But his overwhelming power was too big a part of his game. This was always negated by the clay courts ability to "grab" the ball and slow it down. As great as Pete was, his style was completely imcompatible with a clay court. I always wished he would win the French Open. It was the only feather missing in his cap.
What impresses me about Pujols is his patience. He will not go after a pitch up in his eyes deep in the count like Sammy Sosa or Andre Dawson would.

You make a good point on Sampras but he still is 'the guy' for me, the total game was amazing. So who do you put there? Laver...Connors...McEnroe?
Pujols:
Early on he had 'the eye,' no other player has had this 'eye' sOOO early in a career, he is very scary for pitchers...they feel like they are pitching underhanded to him. The swing is perfection. It took Mark McGire years to get all that to work (and some steriods). Bonds, Sosa et al don't have this thing that Pujols has.
Closet thing I have seen is Henry (Hank) Aaron. Still remember the night on TV watching that hit off of All Dwoning and the Dodgers (I grew up in LA as Dodger fan).

I would not put anyone over Sampras. His only flaw was that his game was not compatible with a clay court. The reason McEnroe and Agassi could play well on court was because they were not overpowering. Their game lost little when transferred to a clay court.
