Default Forumula 1 vs. Nascar

I started this thread as good natured..

what do you perfer, on a lazy Sunday afternoon?

To I F1 is boring as all heck, who ever is in the lead at the start of the race ends up winning. I mean you grab a Beer and a Sandwich start watching the race Shumucker is in the lead, you take a nap, wake up and Shumuker wins the race..

Nascar is so much better, You grab a beer and a sandwich start watching the race, take a nap, wake up and wonder what happened to the guy that was leading the race at the begining.

F1 is just a bunch of expensive go karts that have constant winners. And NASCAR is all about the wrecks.

I'd rather watch the Le Mans series. You know, the one where they had to restrict the Chevy so that Aston Martins, BMWs, and Porches can keep up.

Yea RickyBobby, just keep NASCAR off of ESPN. I try to watch the SPORTS highlights, only to have them interrupted by red-necks driving cars. I can not watch FOX on a Sunday to avoid, but when it shows up on my ESPN, that is an intrusion.

I do love all forms of racing. I have been to F1 races, NASCAR, Sprints, 24 hours of Daytona, and Indy probably 20-25 times. NASCAR fans are the most knowledgeable. F1 fans the most team loyal. Sprint fans have the most fun.
I managed a race shop for many years and yes. EVERYONE DOES CHEAT. In the 1980's thay had what was called The Playboy Cup. It was a series of 'identically' prepared Porsches. We had a guy come in and said "I want to go a little faster than the rest, but I don't want to get caught." We milled his cylinder head ( this increases the compression, hence more speed.) The next week another guy came in and said " I want to go fast enough to beat the first guy." We milled both head, and block. We ended up making stroker kits, for the crank, fly cutting pistons, and going with larger valves. By the time the series was over we had modified ALL the cars.
You may have heard the story about A.J. Foyt who won a race and was called in to tech to check for violations. Now tech KNOWS everyone cheats but not how you are doing it. They thought Foyt was running a larger tank. They removed his tank and measured it. They didn't find a problem so they told him he was free to go. Without thinking he got in the car with NO GAS TANK, started it up and drove it away. He had the roll bars modified to hold fuel.

In F1 the emphasis is on the technology of the cars and the ability of the drivers to drive around the track.

In NASCAR the emphasis is on severely limiting the technology so that the race is all about the driver and his ability to manage his space on the track and has much less to do with the car.

I love them both and have no preference.

Formula one is better than NASCAR because NASCAR is a bunch of country hicks turning left! Formula one cars are also faster and have technical courses. And their track isn't banked, which means serious handeling is needed!

Yeah car racing, horse racing, golf and tennis should be halted as no good comes from it and it is as boring as hell to watch. Tennis isn't as boring but if I can't speak my mind while being there, then it isn't for spectators like me anyway. Nascar is scalectrics to life size scale and I ain't in control of the car. Mind you I hate driving full stop.

With Nascar to really understand it, you have to see it in person, you would be blown away not by only the race, the power, but also the girls.
Also Nascar has two road cources one this weekend, Walkins Glen and Sonoma.
Also with F1 you might as well eliminate the driver and have it remote controlled, I mean don't F1 still use Automatic Transmissions?
