I liked it for a couple of years and then sort of lost interest. I have only heard of Hughes and Liddell so I couldn't say, but Liddell is pretty old compared to the rest of the field I imagine and if this St. Pierre guy can beat Hughes I would say that he is a damn good wrestler.

It was much better when you had absolutely NO rules and Royce Gracie was fighting.

The only thing I know for sure about these fights is I will not be buying them on pay per view.

But then again, based on the info in thios post from another thread, i am probably not the guy to ask

I think Liddell snaps his streak.

I'll take Hughs in that rubber band match. It could go either way though depending on GSP's ground game and takedown defense.

I'm still waiting for a Couture - Emelianenko card.

Couture-emelianenko will never happen cuz Couture thinks that Dana White hates him and he will never fight in the UFC (or ever probably) again, and Fedor signed with K-1 instead of UFC, I have no idea why.

Because the K-1 fighters are better. At least, from what I have seen they are. They just don't get the monetary support that the UFC does.

OK. Liddell was as I thought. Dominant throughout but Silva's jaw is as big as it is hard. That man took some freaking shots from a serious KO artist. Very impresive.

Hughs said after the fight that he put out 120%. That makes GSP appear even more impressive than before because he manhandled Hughs on the ground. In both rounds, Hughs was just hanging on until the round was over. Both are class act fighters with much respect for the sport and each other. GSP is the future and will no doubt destroy Serra.

Have you seen the K-1 fighters? They are more skilled. A lot of people don't like it as well because they don't go down to the mat, but if you want that then the PRIDE fighters are better than the UFC fighters - basically the same rules involved. In each weight class I would take the PRIDE fighters and standing up the K-1 fighters would beat the UFC fighters. Unfortunately, the UFC with its increasingly deep pockets bought out PRIDE and I don't think a lot of those fighters like Dana White and the way he runs things. Like for example the way he favors some fighters with bigger paydays than others.

The reason UFC is so big is because they are on TV and have a reality show.

The days of Royce Gracie are over. There won't be a champion like that guy in the sport again. You may not have been old enough to see when he was at the top, but when he was winning there were no weight classes and virtually no rules.

I was paying payperveiw to watch Gracie when I was in Jr. high. He got torn apart by Hughs a few years ago.

The sport has evolved and standup is a skill that has gone by the wayside partly b/c of Gracie and the sheer fact that a fight can be ended by a big puncher getting a rear naked choke in 45 sec of the first of 5 rds.

Pride Fight champions? Like Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva? The fight tonight showed a little something about that. That guy was hamburger in the first 6 min. UFC champs like Couture and Liddell dominate Period. Put anybody up against Couture and they get their ass beat by a 44 year old. I'd also like to see someone from K-1 or Pride knock of Anderson "Spider" Silva.

The money brings in the best fighters.
