The people (common folk) may have been united but I don't think the politicians of the country were EVER united after 9-11. There was a lot of shock and sadness, but unity? Doubtful. Unless we consider waiting a few hours to blame Bush as unity, then we might be on to something. Politicians on both sides were immediately considering the politics of 9-11, once they got done hiding.
