The prevailing theory taking hold is that the universe will continue to expand. Not only that but at an accelerated pace. The reason being because of the role of dark matter & it's effect on the physically observable universe. It seems it's shaping & pulling the universe to a greater extent than astronomers thought.

My knowledge of theoretical physics (and quantum physics) is extremely limited, but from what I do understand of it, wouldn't you need to be able to travel to another plane of existence in order to expand a universe?

I mean, there's not exactly real estate set up for infinite voids tangent to our universe, so how (and why?) would someone want to create a universe...?
