These "mega" churches seem to have a particular affiliation for this kind of hyprocrocisy: one took over an entire indoor mall here in Western Kentucky, for several years it had armies of worshipers & too much money for even them to spend. About a year ago, their pastor was cought fooling around with women he was supposed to be "counseling."
The same thing then happened to two more "mega" churches in this state: I vote with "smart makes a come back": its dangerous to treat humans like they represent God. Perhaps this hit the Catholic Church early & hard because they very much & very openly have a "god like" figure complete with his own Heaven in Rome.
Actually the early Catholic Church had an entire church council on this very issue: at the Council of Trent it was decided that the validity of the sacraments & church doctirne did not depend on the sancity of those priest & bishops performing the actions. Many Church scollars claimed this position would ultimately lead to "unworthy & sinfull" clergy, in the midst of "mother church." Those scollars were right, St. Augistine amoung them. ...pjwky
